One of three Uniden GMR3740-3CK constantly recieves static that goes on and off. tried swapping batteries and did not work. rx display goes on. Very annoying. Other 2 radios are fine. Is there a setti

I cannot see any settings in the manual for this, tried swapping batteries from one unit to another. Brand new and only used in the city just once to try them out before going in the bush with them but don't want to take them with one of three radios constantly going on/off with static and drainng my battery. Besides the annoyance. Thanks

Well, it IS the squelch level. Most radios do not have an adjustment for this. Take the bad one back, you've done all the tests you can. Good job.

Testimonial: "Thanks for your answer - if I cant return it is there a way I can take off the cover and manually adjust it myself?"

No, new radios have No Way to adjust the squelch. It is a step backwwards in technology, but the days of an adjustment (we call them pots) are gone. It is completely software driven.

It is likely experiencing constant static because the walkie is in "monitor mode" constantly searching for weak signal transmissions. Press and hold the WX/MON button for two seconds to turn monitor mode off. This should fix your problem. It did for mine, which were having the same issue.

To add information to my above question of one of my 3 walkie talkies constantly goes on and off with static showing the "rx" display while the other 2 are fine in the same room, same environment, same channels... I have read a few answers similiar to mine about "Squelch adjustment" and one about holding down a certain button on my walkie talkie when I turn it on.... not sure if these are compatible answers to my problem above. i have nothing in my manual about squelch level either. These are brand new units not taken out of the city yet. I have tried them a few times in the city and have this problem Was meant to be used fishing with my buddies if we split up on the river, but want to have three good working units before I go out. Thanks. Darren

My uniden UH3O5sx is always stuck on receive (rx is always showing) can receive but not transmit

Set up your privacy tones or adjust the squelch level to stop the static and bring the handy out of receive mode. Some models have a busy channel lock out, that if it beleives it hears something it will not let you transmit over the other station.

Static noise rx

Check your batteries. Static can be a sign of a bad or low battery. Swap batteries between the units to see if the problem moves to another radio.
Also, check your antenna and antenna connection.
Best regards.

Cx80 stuck in rx mode , power cycled, swapped batteries, changed channels, will only swtich to tx when ptt button pressed, otherwise always in rx mode, other radio from package works fine

But thats how a walkie talkie works, it stays in Receive Rx mode UNTIL you press the PTT button,, then it Transmits Tx, and when released it goes back to Rx, receive?

Uniden TRU888 5.8 Digital Phone Display no longer lights up

I purchased this model phone as a refurb item and also had display blanking out issues. Mine related to a problem with the battery, which new batteries fixed. Try swapping the batteries between handsets and see if the fault moves to the other handset, which will prove if it is a battery problem. Otherwise, it would seem to be an internal fault in that handset. Try and arrange repair/replacement from the seller.

3 light on last two blink

The first light, I assume is on constantly, is power/connection, and the two that blink will be Rx and Tx, Rx = recieving data sream, Tx = sending data stream, even if you think that nothing is being transmitted, "static" is sent/recieved to maintain your connection.

Constant static and interference

VTech products are generally poorly designed and manufactured. You can probably notice the FCC Warnings on the device that say that you must accept all interference that you may recieve while in use. Go out, splurge a little, and find a telephone made by a well known company like Panasonic, Sony, etc.
