Hi Nigel,
There are three reasons for discs not playing.
First, if the set has been lying for some time, the loading belt becomes lose and the loading is not complete. The result is no disc play.
Second, there is dust on the lense. Again the result is no disc play.
Third, the lense unit has gone bad or weak. Here also the result is no disc play.
Playing DVDs on a PS2 is a hit-and-miss venture. Sometimes they play well, but many times they won't. Very unreliable. Not much you can really do about it, either.
probebly a bad laser. sometimes they will play music but not dvds or even the other way around. from what iv read this is happening to people in just a few weeks.
You probably will need to replace the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) in your laptop. Go to Google and search for "Dell Inspirion 6000 CD/DVD drive" to find a replacement. To be sure it's the CD/DVD drive that's defective and not your operating system software, you could also try to boot from a boot-able DVD disk.
Hi,
are you trying to play DVDs from a different region ?
PC DVD Drives, are region set to the computer, if you have a region 1 dvd drive, trying to play region 2 dvds et,c. it won,t let you. theres a couple of ways around this. go to Afterdawn ( on the web ) and download a region free dvd device.
Solution 2. try to obtain any updates or re-install windows media player. suggest player version 9 or above.
Mike @ compurepair.
p.s finally is to check that your drive, indeed supports DVD Or certain types of dvd media. i.e DVD+ Or DVD- some only support One type.
HI,
it depends on whether the drive is multi-region ?
Some drives are region Set, i.e Region 1 ( NTSC-USA )
Region 2 ( UK PAL )
Most Players Are Region Set, To the country they are purchased in, you can sometimes set the player to become, multi-region, via various buttons on the remote or by the front panel.
I offer a service to unlock 99% of DVD Players, to play all or many regions.
We do have a charge for this Service.
Many Thanks mike @ Compurepair.
