The DVD door keeps opening and closing about 7-8 times before it stasy open

Your problem could be one of three differnt things. It could be that the open close switch on the front has a bit of resistance to it, sand when you press it the switch starts to conduct and then the machine thinks someone has pressed the open/close switch again, or there are a set of small switches inside the unit that the door makes contact with when it reaches the end of the travel lenth, that is binding or broken, or there is a problem with the switch or microprocessor circuitry that is affecting the open close command. The correct repair procedture would to be to get a service manual and trace out these devices that I have just described.

I had the same problem for my panasonic dvd player (ht540). Neither of the above solutions worked so I found this one on the panasonic website:
1. turn off unit by holding down the POWER button for 10 seconds.
2. unplug the power cord and wait for one minute.
3. plug the cord back in and turn on the unit
4. when the dvd begins to play, press "EJECT".
It worked for me. The site for other troubleshooting is:

You can try reseting the unit.
Reset the set to the default factory settings:
All the information stored
(programmes, time and date) will be lost.
1. Disconnect the set from power supply.
2. Press and hold down "STANDBY•ON" on the set and reconnect the set.
3. As soon as "IS TV ON?" is displayed, release "STANDBY•ON."
Hopefully reseting it will clear whatever problem it is having and allow you to once again use your DVD player.
Hope this helps. Good Luck.
