The model # on TV is LF501EM5F. I don't have an HDMI compatible DVD player yet either. If I buy one of these from Amazon (DragonPad Wii to HDMI 720P / 1080P HD Output Upscaling Converter - Supports All Wii Display Modes, HDMI Upscale to 720p or 1080p Output) will I be able to hook that up with HDMI cables to the HDMI on the TV?
You can always get a switcher and select what device goes to the tv without ever changing any cables again.

First off, Sony doesn't make Aquos they make Brava. Sharp makes Aquos. Secondly, I am unable to uncheck 720p how do I do this?

Have you set the actual monitor settings to 1080? sometimes you have to do that first. If it's not set first the Xbox will only recognize it's current settings.

In the settings menu, go to video settings. You can have the PS3 search for "optimal settings" This will tackle both video & audio.
On a side note, you didn't need to spend all that money a HDMI cable. ( I'll bet it's a 'Monster' cable, right? ) The $16 Phillips at walmart is just as good. Unless your doing "broadcast quality digital" work, the expensive cables are overkill. Sorry, bro.

I had this problem. I am still working on it, but I was able to get them to go away by shotgunning the problem with 3 actions: 1) I removed my TV power cable from the same runway as the HDMI cable 2) I used a different HDMI cable 3) I let the unit cool down to room temp I'm hoping that the problem doesn't return.

put your ps3 in standby (solid red light), and then hold the power button until it beeps a second time. then the picture should come up.
