How common is the acer5630 screen going blank and hard to start?

Short to power. Could be as easy as just pulling a fuse and reinsert it. Sometimes you have to access the plug and do they same thing. Sometimes you have to fix or replace the plug. If your display is the radio, It could be internal radio problems..

possible hard drive failure, try shutting machine on and off consecutively 10 times, to get running.

it looks like the Inverter's gone in your screen, it works like a starter in a florescent tube, it 'kick starts' your screen to come on. Turning it on/off many times eventually 'kick starts' your screen and makes it come on eventually.

It is leaning towards your screen is going out and needs replaced.

try pushing on the upper right corner of your laptop, above the home key, does it start up again?
If so its the maxim chip

if not take one so dimm out and dissable wireless.
Could also be your battery not charging because a battery or power cord malfunction.

try it without the battery

Have you tried pressing F8 on boot-up and log into safe mode under administrator, no password, and right click on any empty space on the desktop, left click on properties, left click on settings, select a lower resolution,( e.g. 1024X768 ) select apply, select ok, reboot, log in as normal

remove your battery and on your system other wise reinstall the os

go to settings and go to initial setup, and click on master reset. the code is normaly 00000 or 12345
