How do I wire my 12inch mtx ts 55 subwoofer two outlets red with red and black with black or red and black and red and black

The TS55 is a DVC subwoofer that can be wired for either 4 ohms (voice coils in series) or 1 ohm (voice coils in parallel). The appropriate wiring depends on the amp.

If the amp is stable at 1 ohm, wire both positives and both negatives to the matching amp output terminal (parallel) as shown in Wiring Option #1.

If the amp isn't stable at 1 ohm, connect a jumper between the positive on one voice coil and the negative on the other voice coil. Then connect the remaining positive and negative to the matching amp output terminal (series) as shown in Wiring Option #2.

Ran it at [email protected] now it has low power

Hello if your amp is the one above in the picture, MTX-1501D then your amp is not 1 ohm stable. Your amp is rated at 500 watts x 1 at 4 ohms and 1000 watts x 1 at 2 ohms. The amp has a safety circuit that if it senses to low of a load, ohms, it will only put out half it's power to protect the amp from shorting out. Read the manual. You can download it at or just google it and a manual download site will be in the search list. Hope this hels, Good luck.

Ground Wire Hook-up

MTX has the hookup diagram here: If you have the original wiring harness, the ground wire is normally black. The amplifier case or chassis is ground connnected on amps I've seen as well.
