I replaced the blue catridge and now both red

If the red lights are flashing simultaneously, it means that there is something blocking the printhead from moving. check if all inks are installed properly and the ink carriage cover is closed tight. If both red lights are flashing alternately,it means that the waste ink pad is full and needs to be replaced. This part is not user replaceable so you need to take in the printer for service.

Epson C88 will not print, is flashing both paper and ink lights

I think you need to reset the counter, you can either take it into a epson service centre & have them reset it, or download a programme online.

you just need to google it, just type in service reset C88 that should do the trick.

Stopped printing both ink and paper red light

Depending on the way the lights are flashing you could be able to fix this reasonably easily.

If the lights are flashing at high speed together (ie: at the same time) then it's a fatal error and the chances are you have some kind of problem such as:
  • paper jamming up the works
  • loose wiring
  • the cleaning station sometimes pops up out of position and stops the printhead getting back into the parked position. If this is the cause you have to push the white wiper plastic down and to the right before allowing it back up and into the mated position with the parking pad. Takes a little work but it's easy enough.

Problem #2 is the waste pads and that's indicated by the flashing lights alternating rather than together.

If it's this then rather than reinvent the wheel (I've posted about this soooo many times now) here's a helpful little guide here:
http://www.octoink.co.uk/store/pages/Epson-C86.html (the C86 is the same as the C88 in terms of the waste pump/tubing design)

Resetting the waste ink counter requires the SSC utility from ssclg.com or a suitable adjustment utility which can be found for download if you search hard...

Hope that lot helps but if you get stuck, post again and I'll do what I can.

Cheers,

Martin

2 red lites blinking no epson c88 printer

If both lights are flashing, it may mean the Waste Ink Pads in your printer are saturated with ink and the waste ink "protection" counter has exceeded its limit. You can check this and restore your printer to a working condition immediately by using the SSC utility - download from:

http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

Install it, and double click the ssc printer icon in the bottom right corner (System Tray). Choose Configuration and set your printer type, then close the ssc window. Now right click the ssc icon in the sytem tray and choose Protection Counter. You should see that the current count is above the limit; then choose reset to set it to zero. You will need to fib about having changed the waste ink pads! Turn the printer off then back on again. This will stop the lights flashing and restore normal operation.

However, remember that eventually ink will overflow from the waste ink area and make a dreadful mess, so you must change the waste ink pads before this happens. This requires the disassembly of the printer.

If you decide to have a go at replacing the ink pads yourself, report back and I will provide further help. It is a pretty simple job once someone explains how to get the case apart!

If none of this stops the two red lights flashing, you will need to have a technician check your printer - it may well mean the main board has failed.

If this solution helps you, please rate it; if it doesn't, please provide further information by posting a new comment.

Red & Green Lights keep flashing on Epson Stylus Photo1280

I had the same problem. You need to reset the waste ink counter:

1. Turn printer off, unplug power cord. Disconnect computor interface cable (back of the printer).
2. After one minute, reattach power cord, but not the computor interface cable.
3 Hold down the LOAD/EJECT and CLEANING buttons simultaneously (cleaning button has ink drop on it) .
4 Turn printer on. Release all buttons as soon as the paper out light flashes.
5 Quickly press the cleaning button, and hold for 10 sec while paper out light flashes.
6 Release the button and the printer will initialize.
7. Once the initialization is complete, turn the printer off.
8. Reconnect the interface cable.
9. Turn the printer on and try to print your document.

This process worked for me. Good luck!

Both lights on my epsom c88 are flashing..

I posted this solution before - same problem...the print cartridge 'door' on the top is not closed all the way. This will cause the green light to be off and the other 2 red lights to flash.
When turned on, you can hear the carriage 'attempt' to move from the bay, stops, then the lights start flashing.
Just turn it off, open the cover, push down on the print cartridge cover until it clicks...there is some play in it, don't worry - that is normal. Turn it back on. Worked for me a couple of times - that clasp comes loose every once in a while...

Epson Stylus photo 810/ink jet printer

Hi Alan

I expect by now you've solved this problem - but just in case .....

The waste ink "protection" counter has exceeded its limit and needs resetting. You can do this easily by using the SSC utility - download from:

http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

Install it, and double click the ssc printer icon in the bottom right corner (System Tray). Choose Configuration and set your printer type (810), then close the ssc window. Now right click the ssc icon in the sytem tray and choose Protection Counter. You should see that the current count is above the limit; then choose reset to set it to zero. Turn the printer off then back on again. This will stop the lights flashing and restore normal operation.
