Power cycle your home network and perform a connection test on the Wii.
If your Wii was previously connected online, and no changes have been made to your home network, perform the following steps (if you have not previously connected your system online, skip to the next bullet point):
Remove the power from your wireless modem and router. Plug the power back into both devices, starting with the modem.
From the Wii Menu, select "Wii" in the lower-left corner, and then select "Wii Settings." Use the arrow on the right to move to the second page, then select "Internet," followed by "Connection Settings." Last, select your connection file, and the select "Connection test."
Create a new connection file.
Set up a new connection file making sure the Wii is attempting to connect to the appropriate wireless network and is receiving a strong wireless signal. [How to]

Go to internet options on your Wii settings, select internet, and then connection settings. Once that is done you will be able to see the wifi connection. Click the wifi connection and delete it. Try to reconnect the Wii to your wifi router and you should have success connecting to the internet. If it doesn't connect repeat the steps listed above.

Recieved error code 50299 when accessing Netflix

The Wii wants to do a system update, but isn't letting you connect because your Wii is not updated. Catch 22.... Anyway, go to the connection settings it prompts you to, choose your connection one, save, then test. Should work now, and will prompt you to do a system update.

I'm trying to connect my Wii to the internet with the "Nintendo Lan Adaptor". I plug the ethernet cable at the back of my cable modem (motorola SB5100). I get errors 51420, 52020 and 50299 Help...

    Connecting directly to a modem:
  1. Power off the Wii. Connect the official Nintendo Wii LAN adapter to the Wii, and insert a working ethernet cable into the official Nintendo Wii LAN Adapter.
  2. Unplug all devices from your modem. Most modems are unable to support more than one device at a time.
  3. Power cycle your modem. To do this, unplug the power from your modem and let it rest for 20 seconds. Plug the power back in. Connect the Ethernet cable from your Wii console to the Ethernet port on your modem.

  4. If the connection test fails, try a "Manual Setup" with the Wii console (how to), using your network's IP address, Default Gateway, Subnet Mask, and DNS information. To access these settings:
    1. On your PC, click "Start" and then "Run."
    2. Type "CMD" into the field that appears to open a new window.
    3. Type "IPCONFIG/ALL" and press "Enter" to display a list of internet settings, including the settings listed above. Input these exactly as they're listed into the "Manual Setup" of the Wii console's internet connection.
  5. If you are still unable to connect and you are using broadband Internet, then your ISP likely uses PPPoE to establish a connection to their network. The Wii is not compatible with PPPoE. Contact your ISP for more assistance
