Google maps won't start. Tapping on the icon brings up the app page, then goes back to my desktop screen.

Hi Tom.
try this.
Why does Google maps stop working? Clear the app cache. It may be the case that your app's cache data needs to be cleared. Go to Settings > Applications > Google Maps, then tap Clear Cache to solve the problem.
or go to this link and read up some more.

Do I understand correctly that you able to access your email but not your calendar? Recently Google has rolled out some changes in their UX for their gmail as well as other sites. Instead of the black menu with a list of their products (drive, calendar, maps etc) there is now a grey icon to the right hand side of the header where your name is. The icon is 9 little squares in a grid. Clicking on that icon opens a dropdown with each of those google products, including your calendar. Does this answer your question?

best of luck

Wont log in --keeps saying redirecting

This happens when it sometimes refuses to accept the cookies or if disabled, kindly clear your Cache as:

For FF
: Click on Tools, then Options
Select Privacy
In the Cookies panel, click on Show Cookies
To remove a single cookie click on the entry in the list and click on the Remove Cookie button
To remove all cookies click on the Remove All Cookies button(prefer to Remove all cookies)

For IE
: Click on Tools, then Internet Options,
under General tab see Temporary Internet Files block, and then click on Delete cookies (prefer to click on delete files also)

The problem will be solved.

Browser doesnt load page

Just like a computer browser, whenever you browse the internet, the G1 will download images, text, passwords, etc from all sites accessed. it places this info in a place called a 'Cache'....it can get so full it will prevent pages from loading. to fix this, clear your cache. there are 2 ways to do this.....

1: MENU > SETTINGS > APPLICATIONS > MANAGE APPLICATIONS > BROWSER > CLEAR DATA

2: BROWSER > MENU > MORE > SETTINGS > SELECT CLEAR CACHE, CLEAR HISTORY, CLEAR ALL COOKIE DATA, CLEAR PASSWORDS

after doing that, turn off and on the handheld and try it again. if you keep up on doing this everytime youre done browsing the web, it wont happen again.

good luck :)
