Tried checking to see if there was something stuck on, but couldn't see anything. Not sure if there is something on the sensor. No sure where the sensor is... The only way to stop it from running is to unplug it... Is there a way for me to repair it?
The on off switch is bad. .it controls the power if it will not switch off. Remove the cord from the wall. Then take the top panel cover off then with a small piece of tape mark the bottom wire on the switch .simply pull the top wire off switch. Tape the end of the wire so it doesn't touch anything. Plug back into the wall it will not run. Replacement of the switch is needed. Unplug cord from the wall. Take the wire off bottom of the switch. The switch should have 2 tabs on it squeeze them ad push the switch out . Go to Radio Shack get a new switch.

Does the shredder have the electronic eye to sense paper? Sometimes dust will collect on the sensor causing it to keep running.

You should be able to flip up the cd cover and visibly see the sensors in the center of the paper entry(look like little LED lightbulbs) Clean with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alchohol. This should solve your problem. If it doesn't you probally have a burned out sensor. call 1-800-945-4545 to check with customer service.

sensor is dirty. clean the sensor. it is located approx. 3 inches from left side of paper slot, 1 inch below top.

yes, it's the plastic gear that's shredded in this shredder. the drive gear on the motor is metal, as are the gears attached to blades. between is a single plastic gear which is chewed up the instant resistance is great enough. fabulous engineering. not a difficult fix, but where does one find the replacement part?

I have the same problem with this model shredder. I spent 1 hr to open it up, and confirmed the PLASTIC gear that turns the cylinders are destroyed! That is why even the motor runs like crazy, but the cylinder cutters do not move at all. Why the engineer didn't design to put in a metal gear? Is it more durable than a thin plastic gear?

My shredder is no longer under warranty. Don't open your shredder to repair it yourself
because it will void your warranty. However, she is mailing me out the part I
need for a small fee. Their customer service number is 1-800-327-8508 in the
USA and international only 1-310-793-5650. I do hope this help you!

The shredder will work in forward and reverse. When the shredder is on "On/Auto" it won't turn off. All of the documents have been shredded and the machine keeps running.
