Re: Cannot delete a photo from my card.
After reloading a card after your have transfered your photos to a computer, you should always format the card in the camera. Consult the manual on how to do this.
This makes sure all the photos are deleted and rectifies the file structure on the card to suit the camera, so you get maximum write speed and less chance of corrupting the card.

The EOS cameras have some sort of sensor built in to tell the camera which way the shot should be orientated on screen and when they are transferred to the computer. It sounds like the sensor is jammed or broken and sensing (for some reason) that the camera is upside down when the shot is taken. If you don't want to pay to have it repaired you can use a program to rotate them or turn of the image rotate option in the menu. I believe this ignores the sensor information.
Take no more pics until you've recovered your photos, take the card out of the camera. This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" photos. There are many good freeware photo recovery software options that may help you recover your photos. This article reviews and outlines several of the better ones.
Digital cameras that come with internal memory usually have a very small amount of storage capacity (usually 32 or 64MB). I'm not sure why the manufacturers even bother with internal storage when you can get memory cards that have much more capacity. You need to either download the photos you've taken to your PC and then delete the photos so you can take more shots, or you need to insert a memory card. Depending on your model of camera you need a microSD or SD card. Let me know the model number of the camera and I will tell you what you need to get.
That's entirely correct. Your camera winds all of the film out upon loading and each shot then winds the film back into the canister. Your frame counter works in countdown mode telling you how many shots remain rather than how many you've taken.
Many other camera do the same thing. The beauty of it is twofold: if the camera back is accidentally opened, then the shots already taken are safely in the film canister (except for the last shot), also when the film has finished you wait less time for the short length remaining to be rewound rather than the entire roll.

There is a button with a picture of a garbage can...this is the delete button and it works in review mode when you're looking at the pictures you've taken. Bring up the picture you want to delete and press that button...follow the on-screen instructions.
Transfer the images from the memory stick to your computer, make sure the transfer has been successful so you don't lose your pictures, then to be safe put the stick back into the camera and delete them once back in the camera. AGAIN, before you delete anything, make sure your pictures have been safely transferred to your pc and you can view them all. Deleting the photos from the stick will make the disc empty again and ready for more shots to be taken.
My A 85 developed the same problem as you wrote today. The camera was purchased in March 2005. I checked the guarantee card that states there is a 24 month guarantee period excluding the normal exceptions, ie. water sand extreme heat etc.As you wrote it seemed to revert to a default mode. However, with the computer software it is possible to edit, delete and format the memory card. If I get any joy from the service center listed on the guarantee card I will post details.
