THIS ANSWER IS REGARDING THE HOOPS OF AN EMBROIDERY MACHINE IF THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM. THE FABRIC IS SLIPPING EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE TIGHTENED THE CLAMPS. IF YOU WILL MAKE THE EDGES OF THE HOOPS ROUGH THE HOOPS WILL HOLD FABRIC BETTER. THIS CAN BE DONE BY TOUCHING THE EDGE OF THE HOOPS WITH A SOLDERING IRON SO THEY AREN'T QUITE AS SMOOTH. DON'T BE CRAZY ABOUT DOING THIS SO THAT YOU DON'T RUIN YOUR HOOPS. IT DOES WORK THOUGH.

I can't get the tenson right, it wads up under the piece that I'm sewing?

This is in deed a top tension problem, make sure that your machine is correctly threaded then adjust the tensioner to hold the cotton tighter if it's to tight the cotton will snap in that case back it off a bit at a time till you get what is a good stich, I'm assuming that the feed dogs that pull the fabric through the machine is working okay, but if you have had a lot of jambs then their is a possibility that you have knocked the cotton pick up hook out of position as this should just starting to go behind the needle at it's lowest point then on the way up the hook should go behind the needle to pick the thread up you can adjust this yourself by undoing the clamp screw that holds the shuttle case and hook if you follow the instructions as above then you not far off completing the repair yourself just make sure the hook is very close to the needle just when it starts it's way up then relock the clamp screw and give it a run slowly to start with and if every thing is okay your away.

Needle doesn't hold in place bernina 140

It sounds like the needle clamp may be broken, or maybe have something stuck in it. Try viewing with a small mirror underneath to see if you can observe anything. Might need a new clamp.

If fabric does not feed through, check the feed dogs to see if they are working. On some machines, they can be lowered for embroidery, which disables them. If so, should be a switch to raise them again.

How to fix needle on a machine

Turn the hand-wheel counterclockwise until the needle is at the highest point. Lower the guide or presser foot. This will give the maximum room possible for working with the needle.
Turn the needle clamp screw counterclockwise until the needle comes loose. This screw is located on the side of the small
box, known as the needle clamp, that holds the needle in place.
Remove the old needle by pulling it straight down and then angling it outward. Place a new needle into the holding slot or needle clamp.
Tighten the new needle into place by turning the clamp screw clockwise until tight. Do not over-tighten the needle.

Here's a tip
Use a needle that is appropriate for the type of fabric you are sewing. Using the wrong needle may result in breakage and increase the number of needles to be changed
Over-tightening a needle can cause it to be crooked and break. Turn the clamp screw only until the needle feels stiff in place.

My Brother XL5130 Needle Clamp Body felt out while I am sewing something. I do not know what is missing. I found 4 things in my hand Clamp Body, Pin,Clamp side screw & threads guide. some one plea

There is a hidden screw just that looks like a hole beside the screw that hold the needle... loosen it with # 8 allen key (pretty small) then you put the curved wire back in its hole, then you can put it back on the arm, then screw back the allen screw as tight as you can, this should do the trick worked for me ... I was tring for days to fix it back on but wouldnt go in...this invisible screw was to tight... Hope it helped !

Sewing with double knits

pull about 2 inches of thread from the needle and bobbin and hold them tightly toward the back of the machine when you start to stitch. continue holding them until the fabric is stitched beyond the edge of the presser plate and the hole is no longer visible.

When it changes from straight stitch to sepintine and back to straight it skips lots of stitches. Just paid $300 for a new shaft.

try these suggestions & see if they help

Sewing machine skips stitches
1.needle inserted incorrectly--flat side of the needle faces the shaft
round needle--groove of needle faces away from the shaft
2.Correct needle insertion is mandatory for proper use.
Raise the needle bar to the highest point, then loosen the clamp screw to remove the needle. Place the new needle in the clamp with the flat side of the needle facing the back of the machine.
If round needle--the groove in the needle faces away from the shaft
Push needle all the way up to the stop or as far as it will go.
3.possible bent needle--lay needle on flat surface & roll needle over, if the needle does not roll good -replace
4.blunt needle point--needle makes a popping sound when needle penetrates the fabric--replace needle
5.needle not all the way up in needle holder--loosen needle clamp screw & push the needle up until it stops then tighten screw
6.incorrect threading--one step missed in sequence of threading can cause machine to skip stitches
7.wrong needle in machine--check instruction manual--some machines can use a generic needle with no problem--some can't--
8.size of needle & thread not compatible--
Using the wrong type needle can cause problems,,
A needle to fine for heavy fabric can bend or break when it hit's the fabric
And a too large needle can make puncture holes in the fabric and pull unevenly while stitching

I have a Husqvarna Rose 605 that has just begun to give me problems when embroidering. After embroidering on a project for a few minutes, the surface of the fabric stretches just enough, that on...

It sounds like the needle just isn't in your machine all the way. Loosen the screw that holds the needle and push it up and see if it moves upward. Your machine has sensors that let the embroidery unit know where the needle bar is so the hoop won't move while the needle is down. There is a clamp that holds the needle bar tightly in the machine, if you can rotate the bar, the clamp has loosened. If the needle bar is loose at all, don't sew with your machine as you could cause real damage.
