There is water draining into refrigerator and collecting on bottom shelf and under crisper drawers. Can't tell exactly where it is coming from but enough water drains to spill out of the door on the front corner. Read about blocked drain lines but dont really understand what to do to trouble shoot this. Thanks! Lynda
You have a blockage in the drain tube, remove panel back of freezer..you will see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat gun...you will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper towel...now you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curatain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water drain..now it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. the reason you see water in the fridge is because the water has been leaking down the vent instead of the drain hole...If you need any further assistance please feel free to comment again. good luck!
It happened to ours as well but it isn't a clogged drain tube. The drip tray is stamped in such a way that there is a low point next to the drain hole that never really dries out. because of this it will rust right next to the hole allowing water to build up in the insulation and then drip directly into the refrigerator compartment. Fixing it meant taking the freezer section apart enough to get to the drip tray and removing it. A new tray was unavailable so I used JB Weld to seal the rust holes on both the top and the bottom of the tray, after sanding off all the active rust.
Hi Gullsnest1, I have the exact same issue you describe. A rusted out hole where the drip pan has a lower spot than the drain hole. How did you get the pan out? Did you find a schematic or instructions for removal?
Sorry Sam, I never got a notification of your reply. For anyone else reading this my son and I just atrted taking the freezer section apart carefully until we could slide the tray out. Then we did the repair and put it all back together again.
