The top drawer of my F&P dishwasher is making a loud noise. The best way to describe it is a loud groan. On the eco full plate setting it happens around 41-43 minutes and on the pan setting around 4 minutes. The wash is fine but any suggestions please as to how I cure this. Thanks
I saw a similar post suggesting that it might be the rinse aid solenoid. I ran a rinse cycle and there was no noise. Does this help with the diagnoses?I saw a similar post suggesting that it might be the rinse aid solenoid. I ran a rinse cycle and there was no noise. Does this help with the diagnoses?

The groan is coming from the pump module either bearing is faulty or the blades are touching the body of the pump housing. It would help to know which model you have. The sound must be coming when the drain cycle is started.

Check for debris in the pump impeller. Your owner's manual will describe how to
1. Remove baskets
2, Remove wash arm
3. Rotate (inner) lock ring on stainless steel bottom plate to release and remove it.
4. Rotate top impeller by hand to feel for rough spots indicating debris in lower impeller.
5. Rotate motor assembly lock ring to release rotor assembly and clear debris from sump.
6. Reassemble in reverse order and check operation.
This can also occur with a drawer that is not run often (less than once or twice per month) and indicates a dry bearing surface. Most often running a rinse and hold once or twice frees this up and corrects the problem. Drawers work best when operated once a week or more.

It is likely the sound is coming from the rinse aid dispenser solenoid. (I am assuming you do not have a water softener unit on your dishwasher). Try to run the drawer on a Rinse cycle and see if the noise is still coming.
if you have a torx 20, and torx 15 screw driver, you an remove the screws from the top plate of the wash motor, and underthere youll see another t15 screw converingthe "chopper" assy, sounds as if a seed, of chicken bone, perhaps apiece of glass hasgottne down there
Look for burrs on the botom impeller of the rotor. it requires no tools to check this. Take the wash arm and filter plate off, now rotate the motor rotor's base counter-clockwise and pull it out. Inspect the greay impeller closely for any nicks or burrs. If any are present, the impeller will make a LOT of noise. If it needs to be replaced, you can find them at fisher paykel parts, here is a link to the part you will need: http://fisherpaykelparts.net/index.php?categoryid=113&productid=9
have you lowered the top basket into the lower position? if so the spray arm will knock the cutlery /plates. it sounds as though it is a spray arm problem. remove them and put it in wash to see if the noise goes. if not there may be an obstruction in the wash pump, this is a stripdown job then.
