I bought 2 x 1 GB 128M x 72 333MHz PC2700 DDR SDRAM cards to upgrade my HP Compaq dx 6100 MT Pentium 4 Desktop - Upgraded the BIOS as prescribed...BUT if i insert these memory cards in any order in the slots i only get 5 beeps and the PC would'nt boot...PLEASE advice. Thank you

Hi - The machine uses SO-DIMM 200 pin DDR SDRAM @ 333 MHz also called PC2700. It came standard with 512 Mb and can be upgraded to two GB. It has two ram slots.

The Laptop was available with Intel Pentium M CPU's at 1.6, 1.7, 1.8 and 2.0 GHz.

According to the maintenance manual only 266Mhz Ram can be added to the notebook.
This would be SDRAM.

See page 2-5 in you're manual.
The mainboard provides 2 slots for 184-pin, 2.5V unbuffered DDR DIMM with 4 memory banks. You can install PC1600/PC2100 DDR SDRAM modules on the DDR DIMM slots (DDR 1~2).
To operate properly, at least one DIMM must be installed.
Here is a link for you're memory. To reach you max GB, you would need 2 DIMMS.
