Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. SOURCE: picture in picture problem

When you use the Time Warner Digital box, you're using the tuner inside that box rather than the tuner inside your TV to select a channel. Picture in picture TV's have two tuner's inside so you can view two channels, but they can only tune the analog channels from your cable company, and only if it's hooked up in a manner that will permit this to happen.

So you only have one digital tuner (the Time Warner Box) so you can only view one channel at a time even though your TV supports Picture in Picture.

It MAY be possible to have limited use of the PIP if you connect your TV in a different way. Your Time Warner box is most likely connected to your TV set with composite cables, those are the Yellow, Red, White cables. If you buy a coaxial cable splitter and split the cable before it goes into the Time Warner box you can then run a coax cable into both the Time Warner box and the coax input on your TV. This would allow you to tune the analog Time Warner channels with both of your TV's tuners. In my area I think the first 60 channels or so are still available in analog, but there is no way to watch any of the higher premium channels without the Time Warner box.

If you go through these steps and you select the coax input on your TV your PIP will work on the lower channels. It MAY be possible to tell your TV to display the input from the composite cables on one of the PIP screens and the input from the coax on the other, but I kind of doubt it.

I know this sounds complicated and if you're not familiar with the way all this works it is complicated. The reason lots of people won't respond to this kind of question on this site is because there is no easy fix and by trying to help I run the risk of getting a bad rating. I don't get paid for this, I just like trying to help, so if I have not explained this in a way that's helpful to you please ask some additional questions before you give me a bad rating. Thanks.

Hi,

FPA lock stands for Front Panel Access lock similar to Parental Control/Child lock - it indicates that the buttons on the front of the TV are locked so that it cannot be operated accidentally by young children.

You would need to use the remote to deactivate this security feature. Normally, you would go into the Parental Controls menu and turn off the FPA lock.

If for some reason a password was used, then you would have to enter that password since without it you can't get into the Parental Controls menu.

On some versions, you can press "Menu" on the front panel and "Vol -" on the remote simultaneously for 3 seconds to clear the password. in others, it would require that you press and hold at the same time the Vol < button on the front panel and CLEAR button of the remote control for about 5sec. You would need to enter a new password the next time you access the Parental Control Menu.

Usually, steps involve are explained better in the user's manual which is available at the RCA (Support) website. You would need to enter the exact model number of your RCA TV.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

In older CRT televisions the horizontal power supply can start to degrade causing the picture to shrink.
Take it to a qualified repair man to have him replace the particular components that are starting to die. This repair will require identifying the particular component and replacing it.
Often times just finding the bad component can take hours of troubleshooting by a skilled technician.
Tho, before you take it in try ruling out one simple issue like bad mains voltage. Try plugging it into a different outlet in a different part of the house.

Westinghouse ew32s5kw tv red light shows power is going to unit pressing power turns indicator light from red to blue for a brief moment then back to red.

I had the same problem on my Westinghouse 32 inch TV. The internal main power supply went bad and had to be replaced. I had a TV repair shop do it. It was about 8 years ago. Haven't had a problem since. I think it cost about $70 for parts and labor. Nowadays TVs are pretty much a throw away item if they go bad. TV repair shops are getting hard to find plus the cost of TVs has come down so much sometimes you can get a new set for what the repair would cost!

Sony bravia kdl55hx729 3d led tv turns on 3 seconds shows picture than four red flashes

Hello,
the error light sequence that you are seeing is indicating a "backlight error". Most likely you have a bad inverter board -the board that powers up the back-lights behind the display panel. They might be available via ebay if you are a DIYer, or you need to call for sony service.
Good Luck!

Solutions (2) Best Solution That little fella is only turned off by unplugging it. If all those little lights in America could be turned off we could do with one less nuclear power plant. If unplugging it is not an option, my wife's solution is to cover it with a piece of black tape.

remove all screws on the back of the tv, carefully pull off back cover. you will see two circuit boards one on the left (Power) and one on the right (Video) on the Video board there is a small plug on the right side with a yellow, white and red wire going into a small white connector. the red wire is what controls the orange light on the front. now that the plug is pulled turn it over and you should see a small white plastic piece that holds each metal connector on the end of the wires in. pry this piece of plastic up for the red wire and pull at the same time, the wire will come out of the connector. now tape the metal connector with electrical tape and tuck it behind something or tape it to the chassis. plug your connector back in. put the rear cover back on. now your tv will only show the vizio logo in white when you have the power on. If you wish to disable the logo for both orange and white just disconnect the white plug completely.

Common failure in this TV is the caps in the power supply are bad and also failed 5VDC standby supply stops working (if you do not see red indicator light on the front panel, the it is bad), and backlight inverter bd.

Won't turn on

Once you take the back off there is a glass gma fuse withing a few inches of where the power cord plugs into the board at. This should be a 6.3 or 6.5 gma fuse. Very common to blow in your model because the degausing coil is a little to big for it. There are other reasons for it to blow but 99% of the time you change change it and the set will work again. Let me know if you need more help or info!

Tv color

The solder joints on the degaussing thermistor have cracked or the thermistor itself has opened, and the CRT is heavily gaussed. You can degauss (demagnetize) the picture tube and the colors should return to normal, but the thermister should be resoldered or replaced.
