Won't stay on, turns off by itself

I recently bought a used Aiwa subwoofer and it worked fine day one. The next day it wouldn't turn on and stay on for more than 30 seconds w/o powering off by itself. The guy I talked to thought that it might be a blown amp (result of the amp being too powerful in the unit, or the speakers playing w/ it somehow) I'm really not sure, and unsure further if I can fix this? The speakers I had plugged in were 8ohm resistance -

With a 1.5 Volt Dry Cell (AA Size), connect two pices of wire with the Cell. Momentarily touch the wires with speaker several times. It should produce click sound when wires are touched. If not then speakers are defective and need repair. Do not touch the wires for more than a second, touching the wires for a long time may damage the speakers.

Whay does my AIWA CA-DW63OU start playing by itself?

are you sure it's not going into demo mode after you turn it off? Is there just lights and display flashing? - that is demo mode. Probably a button on the remote to turn it off.

My compaq c 581WM notebook pc won't start at all. A while ago it got pretty banged up but I got it fixed and it worked fine untill like 5 months after and from then it wouldn't charge or turn on...

Hi,

Im very sorry to hear that, please follow these simple steps for you to be able to isolate the exact problem.

1. Removed the battery.
2. Connect the laptop directly to the power outlet without using the battery just for the meantime.
3. Turn on the laptop. If the laptop is able to power on, that means that the AC adapter is working fine as well as the DC port. If the laptop is not able to turn on, it maybe the AC adapter itself or the DC port.
4. Try to use another AC adapter if possible, make sure that that AC adapter is working fine. If the laptop is still not turning on, the problem is with the DC port itself. In that case, you will need to replaced the Motherboard itself.

Hope this will help...Thank you for using Fixya...

What is happening to my sub woofer????? D: So I have the sony muteki HT-DDW1600 and have had for the past year. In that time it has served its purpose for many many house parties. Recently I noticed that...

If a fuse blows it won't self-heal when you cycle power.

Swap the subwoofers between the two subwoofer speaker feeds. Maybe it will stay with the channel or maybe it will follow the speaker and make next steps easier.

I have no output from the subwoofer channel on my aiwa av d-57. All other channels are fine. Is there a fuse for that channel or some other quick fix or is it kaput?

Note that you have to do this with the remote control, there arent any buttons that will work on the front of the unit. If you don't have the remote (like myself) and you have an Android phone with a remote IR blaster installed, I was able to use the app ZappIR. In the app you select the model and it supplies you with a ton of buttons. I randomly pressed the buttons until "sub off" displayed, the rotated the multi jog selector on the unit itself till "sub on" appeared.

Broken receiver

I bought my AV-DV75 from Best Buy about 10 years ago and it still works. However it did stop working a while back. I don't know why. I alsmost threw it away. But I unplugged it for a couple of days, then plugged it back up and it came back on. It is still working. Maybe that will work for you.

PS
my center speaker quit working recently. If you decide to sell your AIWA speakers will you please email me?
