Philips 27PS55S TV has shrunk. By that I mean that lately the picture has grown and stretched an inch or two beyond the screen, thus cutting off all 4 borders of the picture incl. half the crawlers at the bottom. Faces and scenes also now look vertically stretched on this 2001 CRT 27-incher. What's wid dis?

Fault with the main power supply regulator board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

SOURCE: Sanyo TV stretches outwards and shakes

If the picture is closing (top to bottom) and goes back to normal when you hit it you probably have a bad solder connection on IC501 (location number) the vertical deflection IC on a metal heat sink. If you mean outwards as in side to side as it looks in the picture, I don't know specifically where to solder but get a magnifying glass and look for suspected bad solder connections. Look for the word width if it is there. It is good that you a confident in soldering.

SOURCE: Vertical Stretch

You need to adjust "vertical height" in the service program. You need to put the set in "service mode" to do this adjustment. If you google "enter service mode RCA F32665" you should find the procedure. It will be listed in abbreviated letters such as VERT SIZE or VERT HT. Follow the instructions for entering service mode and saving the data closely!! The data you change will be listed as a number between 1 and 63. The number will only need to reduced by a small amount and you can still see the picture behind the data and watch it shrink as you adjust the number down.Always burn the new number to memory (if required) before exiting service mode. Good luck

Need ninstruction manual mo#27ps55s321

Phillips has the documentation for the 27PS55S/321 on the product support page: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=27PS55S/321&slg=EN&scy=US . The direct link to the User Manual is http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/2/27ps55s_321/27ps55s_321_dfu_aen.pdf . There is also a Quick Start Guide: http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/2/27ps55s_321/27ps55s_321_qsg_aen.pdf . You could start at the Consumer Support page, http://www.usa.philips.com/c-m/consumer-support . Then enter the first part of the model number (27PS55S), you can find a number of the similar models listed.

I hope this helps.

Why are the movies half screen?

Movies that are created for "Wide Screen" viewing show up in letterbox on your TV. If you go to a theatre you notice it is a big rectangle. To be able to fit all of the widescreen movie on a TV it has to make the height smaller.

Because many people want to see the "complete" Movie, the "Letterbox Format" came about. I do NOT know what the word "Letterbox" actually means, or how that term was chosen. To get the complete Rectangle into that Square, they discovered that they could shrink the entire rectangle to fit that square. Meaning, what used to take 2 inches on your screen, now may only take 1.75 inches. Now a problem arrose. When you shrink the WIDTH to fit your dinky Square of a TV, the HEIGHT also has to be shrunk along with it, or else you're stretching the image as if it was on silly-putty ("Compression"). When the image was shrunk to fit the TV Screen, they were left with a gap at the top and bottom of the screen. So they simply fill it in with "Black". I guess the only alternative was to leave it snowy.

JUST PURCHASED A 60 INCH DLP TELEVISION MOST TV CHANNELS ARE NOT FULL SCREEN.... WHAT STEPS DO I TAKE TO INLARGE THE PICTURE TO FIT THE 60 INCH SCREEN ?

Channels that transmit in 480 or 720 may not fill the screen. You can use the Aspect or Zoom button or feature to expand those channels to fill the screen but there may be some stretching in one direction or parts of the picture may extend beyond the edge of the TV. Some TVs have a "justified" setting that will not distort the center of the picture and just stretches the corners. Look in your manual for Picture Size, Aspect, or Zoom for details about your TV.

Av-32f476 picture shrinkage

I had a Crummy Westinghouse TV that had a problem like this. JVC's are typically better built then a Westinghouse. My first educated guess - sounds like it's a voltage issue, most likely on the high voltage. Probably a capacitor on the power supply side of the motherboard or the capacitor in the flyback transformer. Just and educated guess.

Sylvania 27 in tv picture

It sounds like your vertical has shrunk, causing the picture to look squashed. Most likely a bad component in the vertical output stage.
