I have registed to home with emailpass word i go to home and tomtom say connected to computer but on home in rigth hand corner says no device connected ?

The usual way to update your TomTom GPS is using the TomTom HOME software that you download and installed on your computer/laptop. Then set up your TomTom account (using the TomTom HOME application) and registered your TomTom device (in that account) on the TomTom webiste
After that, connect your TomTom device to your computer/laptop (using the USB cable). Turn on the TomTom device, and touch the YES icon (on your TomTom screen) if it asks whether you'd like to connect to the computer.
You should be able to see the updates available for your TomTom device (on the TomTom HOME application). Select the updates you want and (download and) install them.
Recently TomTom has stopped providing software/map updates and/or support for certain (older) models of their TomTom GPS. If you see such a notice when you register your TomTom device, your option is to get a newer GPS model (you may even get an offer on the TomTom HOME screen), or you can continue to use your device without updating the software and/or maps until it becomes unhelpful, unreliable, etc.

Connect your GPS device (using the USB connector / cradle or a USB cable) to your computer / laptop and use the tomtom HOME software.

Assuming you have TomTom HOME software on your computer (if not download it from the tomtom website and install it on your computer/laptop), and after you've created a TomTom account and register your GPS device, you can use the HOME software to download software, data, maps, etc. to update your TomTom GPS device.

I'm assuming you have
- the TomTom HOME (or MyDrive Connect) software installed on your computer/laptop.
- you have a TomTom account and have registered your TomTom device (in that account) on the TomTom webiste
- you are able to successfully plug your TomTom device to your computer/laptop, e.g. using the USB (cable or cradle)
- you can log into your TomTom account and have the TomTom software (HOME or MyDrive Connect) recognize your device (as being connected)
- you see the list of software/data/map updates available for your device
... and you still can't download the software/data/maps ... ? to update your TomTom device ... ?

Have you been able to get any help/support from the TomTom website ? www.tomtom.com to do this ?

You do not need the barcode or receipt to register and update a tomtom.
Connect to a PC and download 'my drive connect' from the tomtom website.
Register the device with you name and email address and follow on screen instructions to update.

If it was not registered you should register it on the TOMTOM website. You will need to download the TomTom Home software and install it on your computer. When you connect the GPS device to the computer the HOme Application will open and you may be able to update the device.

If is was not used before you may have the right to download the newest version of the map that shipped with the GPS.

load cd & install software for tomtom home on computer, connect to computer connected to internet & turn on device, computer will ask if you want to connect device to computer, select yes, tomtom home will start, register device & it should search for updates

Follow the link, register your details and you will be sent a £10 voucher by email to use straight away on the TOMTOM shop.

Just enter the voucher code into the left hand box when looking at your trolley.
Your email receipt will have an attachment - download it.
Once completed, go to TomTom Home on your computer, make sure you are logged on with the same email address that you bought the voice with and then connect your device. It should automatically update and itself and store in your voice selections.

If you've already registered just sign up with a new email address to take advantage of this. You might have to adapt the email attached to your TomTom Home to download it.

With out knowing which TomTom you own...try this generic how to...

First do a Backup of your unit, then update your device Then go to tomtom.com if you still are unable to find the pictures,music and other stuff you want to remove.

1. Run the Clear Flash tool on your device Using the Clear Flash tool to resolve TomTom device issues
2. Disconnect the TomTom from the computer both through the Device > Disconnect Device option in HOME and from the USB cable/dock
3. Close and exit TomTom HOME completely
* Windows: After closing the HOME window, right click the TomTom icon in the System Tray and select Exit
* Mac: From the Finder, choose Exit when you have the TomTom HOME window open
4. Restart the computer
5. After the computer has restarted, open TomTom HOME
6. Login to your MyTomTom account - use the Log in link in the upper-right hand corner
7. Connect the device and let all updates download and install (this may take a moment)
* Updates should download and install automatically, otherwise, click on Update my device.

If you need to delete pictures,music,and stuff you may find it easier to default your unit. BUT SAVE the backup as you may want to extract parts of it and that you need.

To update your unit you must create an account by supplying a valid email address. I suppose this is akin to a registration.
To effect that you install the Tomtom Home software on your computer. Then you connect the unit to the computer. When it asks you if you want to connect to the computer, tap Yes and the HOME software will open allowing you to update maps etc. You will be asked to create an account.
