I am running windows xp at present. i want to run windows 2000 so i can also install google chrome in my computer. what will i do?

You don't need Windows 2000 to install Google Chrome. I am sure that Windows XP supports Google Chrome. Otherwise you will have to upgrade to either Windows Vista or Windows 7.

I upgraded lenovo laptop from XP to Windows 7. No sound, please advise.

This is because required sound drivers are not installed windows 7 should auto find the drivers however sometimes you may have to manually install them or change sound card if sound card isn't compatible with windows7

IBM ThinkPad T42 Srceen view

The problem is the video driver, either it has been corrupted or uninstalled, that is why the display is set to standard VGA settings of 640X480 with 16 colors.
You can check this by going to the Control Panel - Display - Settings - Advance and check the Adapter.

To fix this problem install the Video driver.

Winxp upgrade issues

The common problem to this is trying to do an upgrade from windows itself, make sure you are doing a fresh install by booting from CD. If this does still not work and you have a legitimate windows disk, contact the microsoft helpline and they will be able to issue you with a new serial

No sound

I think the Thinkpad is made by Lenovo, go to their site, enter the specifications for your laptop and search for an audio driver.

Download and install the audio driver. This should fix your problem.

If you would like me to do this for you please provide the model number.

IBM Thinkpad A31 won't power on

Start by upgrading the bios for the motherboard. You can find the download at IBM's support site. Make sure to create at bootable disc with another machine, since your machine isn't functioning properly. This should fix the chipset issue and recognize the processor properly. Then reinstall XP and download any drivers, ie... sound, video, etc.., from IBM's site. This should get the machine working properly. If problems persist after you do this let me know and we'll go from there. Also, don't install service pack three, it's been known to create issues, only install service pack two.
