SOURCE: My Thompson DTR is nearly 2 years old and it does not record

Nooooooooo! It may be you have no room left on your hard drive. Try deleting some of your recordings and see if that helps. De-select topup tv channels you don't watch (in my case all of them), this can free up to half of your hard disk. Failing that, do a factory reset, hard disk format and retune. You will lose all your recordings, but may well gain your functionality.

I cannot help with your problem but unfortunately the same thing has just happened to me this morning. I woke up and every recording is apparently gone, but I cannot record because it says there is no room on the HDD and for me to delete titles. Can anyone help!?

SOURCE: My DTR will not record - it won't record planned

lorrainerama,

Do you know the model number of your receiver? If you look on the front of the receiver, it has a model number on the bottom left corner (e.g.VIP 612, 722..etc.). Try unplugging the receiver from the electrical outlet for about 10 seconds and plug back in. This will reboot the receiver and re-acquire satellite signal. After the picture returns, try to record the program you are watching. If this doesn't fix the problem, please call DISH Network at 1-800-333-3474 and speak to Technical Support. We may need to replace the receiver.

SOURCE: I have had no trouble

Hi, this is a common problem, you need to get in touch with the place you have bought it from and tell them your hard drive is corrupt and will need formatting and re-installing the firmware, now depending on how long you have had it they may tell you you need to pay to have it fixed, if they tell you that then you would be better off getting a new one.

the chances are something has over heated and caused the data on the hard drive to be corrupt so even though it only showing 26% it means the rest of the hard drive has corrupt data and cant be recorder on so you only have 26% of your hard drive left that you can use.

over time this will happen to all dtv recorders its nothing you can do either contact the place that sold it to you or have a look in the book that came with it and contact their customer support and explain whats happening, they will then tell you how to access the service mode and this will allow you to format the hard drive and may solve the problem.

we dont have the service menu details here as its only sagem who hold them and they keep it to themselves as its what their engineers use to reset the system and solve any problems.

it may or may not work but you have got nothing to lose so either take it back to where you bought it from and ask them about an exchange or refund or look in the handbook and call sagem customer service team and ask them how to format the harddrive

also check in the settings that this is turned on: OAD Auto Updates enabled.
make sure it is enabled.

also try doing the following to reset the box it may work but most of the time if the hd drive is corrupt it will need replacing before you can record again
1. Turn off the unit for 5 minutes to cause a full reset.
2. Turn on the PVR with everything attached except the aerial.
3. You will get an Er-09 on the display. On my PVR there was no output on the TV screen whatsoever (totally black screen).
4. Press 'OK' on the remote.
5. The box reboots in standby mode.
after this it should say OAD complete this means the firmware has been updated if it dont do anything then the chances are you have all the latest updates and you hard drive is no good.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Bought a tvonics freeview dtr-hv250 digital tv recorder, keeps coming up but it wont allow me to record. keeps saying the hard drive is unformatted. done what it says on the on screen instructions but

Go to your on screen menu under dtr settings and format the hard drive. If you have been recording the hard drive may be full and some programs need to be deleted to allow more recording space. You may also unplug the unit for several minutes and use the reset box option.

Dvr will not record. i get the message, " hard drive full" is there a way to erase what is on the hard drive?

You can erase the contents of the drive or set the drive to overwrite when full. Erasing the drive is the equivalent of reformatting (you will not be able to recover the images easily).

To Erase/Format, enter the Menu system and select Hard Drive Setup (seventh line in the list). Press Enter, then go to HDD Format (fourth item in the list) and press Enter. Then enter your password (set up under System Setup) but the default password is 111111, if it is on. If you entered the correct password, the screen will flash HDD Formatted 3 times. Press Menu to exit the menu. (If the incorrect password was put in, Incorrect Password will flash.)

To overwrite, again go to Hard Drive Setup then select the first item, Drive Full. Press Enter to toggle Overwrite On or Off. You will be able to recover the images until they are overwritten.

I hope this helps.

My thomson DTI6300 digital TV recorder shows that it is recording but does not stop at the required time. No recording is actually made and the message comes up ''recording failed''. This happens whatever...

If you have no recordings and it's playing up, I'd do a complete reset as follows;

Restore Factory Defaults
This will restore all the factory settings and erase the contents of the box.
Menu>Set-up>Help>Green>Red

Format HDD
This will re-partition and re-format the hard drive.
Menu>Set-up>Help>Green>Blue

This will wipe everything you have recorded. It will also dump your 14 day Electronic Program Guide which will take upto a day to reload. Leave the unit on standby.

You might want to take this opporunity to do a channel scan as well.
