SOURCE: how do i install audio output device

No Audio Output Device Installed
Some users have been experiencing problems with a "No Audio Output Device Installed" error when trying to play music, or when hovering the mouse over the speaker icon in the system tray. You may get a white X in a red circle to indicate this error.

Go to the device manager by pressing WINDOWS KEY + R to go to the run menu, and then run "devmgmt.msc".

From here, select your malfunctioning audio device(s) and make a note of the driver name. Then, right click on it and select Uninstall. This will remove the audio drivers from your system.

Once this is done, re-load the drivers for your sound card from the CD your manufacturer gave you with your PC or sound device. If you cannot find this, search for the driver on the manufacturers website using the driver name that has been written down. No Audio Output Device Installed

SOURCE: no audio output device installed - compaq pressario v6000

Press the Windows key on the Keyboard and then press the "R" key while holding down the Windows key to open the Run dialog box.
Then, type "msinfo32" in the Run dialog box and click OK to open the System Information window.
On the left pane, click on the plus sign next to the "Components" then click on the Sound devices to check if the Window is able to recognize the audio card installed in the Computer.

If there is no audio device information available in the System Information window then the issue may be with the audio card.

To ensure if the issue is with the audio card, you may try reinstalling Windows.
If the issue still exist even after reinstalling Windows then you may contact the service center of the computer's manufacturer to get the audio card replaced with a compatible one.

I have no sound it says no output device installed what can i do to get it fixed with out have to pay for it

If your sound-card is "integrated" on your motherboard, then access the web-site for the manufacturer of the motherboard, and download the "audio" device-driver for XP/Vista/7, and install the driver.

If your sound-card is a PCI add-in card, then access the web-site for the manufacturer of the sound-card, and download the "audio" device-driver for XP/Vista/7, and install the driver, e.g., 'www.SoundBlaster.com' for the Creative Labs "Sound Blaster" series of sound-cards.

Without more information on the specifics of your sound-card, I cannot be more specific.

Yes it is possible. Now i need you to click on start /control panel

Here make sure you are in classic mode, you should be able to find an icon called "system". to change to classic mode, click on the classic mode option on the top left.

In the system window, click on the tab for hardware and then click on device manager

Check to see under "sounds and other hardware" if you can see your sound card installed.

Also, check to see oif there is anything listed under "other devices"

Now, another information i would need is the make and model of you PC

Soundcards not supports

You will have to configure the outputs on the sound card via the driver on the PC. It may only be set to Stereo instead of 5.1.
