I have an RCA HDTV 52 in 2005 model that makes a humming noise picture color starts jumping in and out from color to blk and white then picture totally goes blk, then after a few minutes will come bk on. Sound is fine.

Do you have a cable box going to the TV and is this condition on all of the inputs or just one. Chances are you have standard video connection plugged into the component inputs.

If you have a (yellow/red/white) cable make sure you have it plugged into a connection on the tv that matches those colors because if you have a standard video (yellow) plugged into the Green then you will get a black and white picture.

If you are plugged into a component connection you will need a total of 5 RCA style wires. One will go from Green to Green, another from Blue to Blue, another from Red video to Red video, anther Red audio to Red audio and white audio to white audio.

The common mistakes made with this connection is the reversal of the RED video and RED audio which will cause the humming noise you spoke of as well.

This tv design have a colors wheel in it,have humming sound or loud motor noises.The colors flashes Black&White or lost all colors.The colors wheel is dying and the causes.The colors wheel replacement are not a do it ur self project.Hire a tv Tech. to do it right the first time.Colors wheel sit way back close to the Light Projection Engine itself.

Hi,If the lamp didn't do the work it could be that the problem is with something else.If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast.Do you hear buzzing or high pitch sounds? The color wheel is very common problem. Color wheel for this model is about $100 to $150 plus labor.

My color wheel went out on mine and it looks to be the same on yours'. RCA cannot find a replacement for my model and there are none available on an on-line search. RCA may end up replacing my set.
