Fan is wired separately from the cooling unit. you may have a wire corrosion issue. take put the shelves, disassemble the back of the unit from the inside and observe the wiring to see if there are broken or corroded wires/connections. R/R if necessary.

SOURCE: Power Consumption - Magic Chef Wine Cooler

The unit will draw between 6 and 12 amps on start up and running it should use less than 1.6 amps. The start up amps will increase with age. Funny how that works the same for people as it does for machines. I hope this will FixYa. Please dont forget to rate. Mike

Air was not cooling but indoor fan was working. Checked outdoor unit, fan not working and hearing like a vibrating/humming sound.

If the condenser coil is very dirty it may have tripped a manual reset high pressure switch try and locate it on the condenser , Also check breaker feeding unit. If it comes back on turn off at the thermostat and wash condenser coil with a garden hose .

This unit is shutting down minutes after you turn

Hello juniorb32 - When did you recently clean the filter? Restricted air flow from a dirty air filter can caused the unit to turn on and off rapidly. Make sure there is nothing blocking the airflow to the unit like drapes, blinds, furniture, etc which could restrict air distribution. When was the last time you cleaned the outside condenser coils? Confirm that the condenser coil is clean and not restricted by any trees, bushes, etc. Verify that the plug is not damaged and try resetting the unit. This can be done by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes, press the reset button on LCD plug and restart unit. If issue continues the air conditioner could possibly have faulty PC power board, compressor or power supply. At this point, I highly recommend consulting a professional to narrow down the precise issue before investing in parts that may or may not be the root cause. A listing of authorized service providers can often be found on the manufacturer website.

Air conditioner keeps flipping the breaker

Could be a lot of things. About the only thing you can do besides calling a service tech is to 'make sure your coil on the condenser (outside) is clean. This coil can be cleaned with a water hose, but you need to make sure you have all electricity turned off.

Turn off the breaker on the outside unit (this could be a fuse block that you have to pull out) and make sure you have your inside thermostat in the off position.

Once you are 'absolutely sure' that you have all electricity off - you can wash the coil with a high pressure hose. Just make sure that both - the inside and outside of the coil is clean; you may have to disassemble the unit a little bit, i.e. take the top off or one of the sides, etc.

The only hope you have - is that the coil is clogged and causing the compressor to overheat and go off on amp overload. It's possible this is the case - but I also suspect the compressor is electrically breaking down which is not connected to the condenser coil being dirty, in which case you will need a service tech and may be faced with some expensive repair. Let's hope this is not the case.

So - it's worth a shot to wash the outside coil.

Not to be 100% negative - it's possible it's something minor and when a service tech looks at it - it could be a fairly cheap repair bill.

Good Luck!

Blower wont come on

If the blower never tries to come on, then that is why it is tripping the breaker. If the breaker is tripping while the entire unit is running, try cleaning the condenser coil. Go on top of the unit and remove the AC shroud. With a water hose, gently rinse the condenser coil out from the rear. Continue doing this until the water that flows is clear. This should help with the breaker problem, if it does not, then the fan motor is overheating and causing the amperage to go up. What size of breaker is the unit on? Does it trip mainly on hot days? If so then it is the fact that the condenser is dirty.

Ruud out side unit

It sounds like you may have lost line voltage to the unit. What you hear is most likely the buzzing of the compressor relay which is energized by 24v from the indoor unit. Look at your condenser coil, are the aluminum fins clogged with debris? If so this is likely the cause of the tripped breaker and will need to be cleaned. Before you go to the trouble have someone go to your breaker panel and flip all the 220v DPST breakers off and back on while you watch and listen to the condenser to insure that the fan and compressor will come on line as soon as this is confirmed turn the breaker off and clean you condenser coil, the correct way to clean the condenser coil is to remove the disconnect plug at the unit or turn of the line voltage at the breaker, remove the top panel that supports the fan , flip it over being carefull that it's weight is supported in a way that wont stress the wireing harness to the fan motor. Spray the inside surface of the condenser coil with a heavy foaming cleaning solvent and let it have time to saturate the grime compacted between the fins then spray from the inside out and from the top down until the water runs free and clean from the inside thru the coil. Replace the top panel and allow time to insure that any water that might have gotten into the fan motor housing has evaporated, Then start it up if that was the original cause of the thrown breaker (very often is) then your in good shape and just saved a service call, Gratz!
