The washer seems to pull the threads out of all of my towels. I thought it was the dryer so I bought new towels and didn't put them in the dryer and they came out of the washer with the threads pulled out, just like the old ones. Any ideas how to stop this? It seems that if the fabric has a nap it pulls it out but if the fabric is flat it leave it alone.

what you can do without harm is remove the washer front panel and tug on the top and it should pull out...you can also raise the front washer legs up into the machine and that too will make it easier to pull out...be sure when replacing the lid switch asm to replace the fuse which is on the rear of the left side washer cabinet panel once front panel is removed
Try loosening the tension and pulling a longer string of thread. Also, if the needle is not at the highest point, when you start sewing, the thread will pull out.
Did you figure out a solution to this problem? I just bought a brand new Frigidaire and it is doing the exact same thing, except it never worked properly. I thought it was the unit and had HH Greg bring another out but the 2nd one did the same as the first.
yes musty is actually cooked soap
from the dryer
take a clean just washed towel and put it in the washer alone with no soap
turn on the machine and watch what happens you will see the suds start to form
with this unit, if your using too much soap it will be spun into the cloths and then cooked in the dryer
do one towel load without soap then cut you soap usage way back
anything more than a tablespoon is way to much
the calypso washer is much older then 2 years. they stopped making them quite a few years ago. what you are seeing is how towels will come apart when washed with an aggressive washer. even expensive towels can be poorly sewn and will come apart when washed too hard. i might suggest you use the light cycle as it has a slower washing cycle speed. if you check your older and "better" towels are not doing the same thing as your new towels. i know its not fair but it is the way towels are now. you can try to remove the threads that are coming off your newer towels and then all should be ok, but there is nothing wrong with your washer just the way towels are now.
Have you checked the agitator? There may be sharp edges on the agitator blades. OR the towels may be getting stuck under the agitator and tub bottom. The agitator is supposed to suck the clothing down in the center and forcibly throw the clothing outwards against the tub. The cycle then repeats.
washers and dryers dont make smells themselves its a problem with something u might be putting in it. if u tend to add alot more detergent then usual to your towels then they never completely rinse the water out and will have a mildew smell
