My Daughter has a 2001 Kia Spectra. she bought a new JVC stereo and when I went to install it, naturally the harness didnt match and the wire color codes were not correct either. I bought two different wiring harnesses but niether worked properly. I have checked every site I can find and the wire colors that are listed as the factory colors are not correct. The car has never been modified. starting from the power end of the factory connector the wire colors are as follows: solid Black Solid Green blue / white solid pink green / black brown / black brown / green green / yellow orange / black White / green white / black solid yellow yellow / red Can anyone tell me what each of these wires are for. I dont want to damage anything by hooking the stereo up the wrong way. any help would be greatly appreciated! thank you
Get a test light turn key on test wires till you find a hot usually the lighter is behind ashtray when you find hot turn key off be sure light goes out wire isn't hot when key is off this should work don't use lighter with radio on hope this helps good luck
Thanks for the assistance !
I posted a follow up stating that the pro lem was solved a few days after I posted the question.
The car was built in the later part of the model year and kia used the 2002 model year audio wiring harness. I was curious and looked up the 2002 and it was an exact match.
Thanks again for your help!

The simple solution would be to go to the source where she bough the system
Been there done that as I stated in the question about the two wiring harnesses.
I found the problem and posted a follow up so everyone would know what to look for.
The car was built in the later part of the 2001 model year and for some reason kia used the 2002 model year audio harness. Its a perfect match!
Thanks anyway!
