Dell latitude d360 has aproblem on screen, wen i start it it brings alot of lines on screen.

Try these steps :

  • turn off the laptop and unplug all the peripherals.
  • take out the battery
  • press and hold the power button for 30 seconds without the battery and the adaptor.
  • after that put the battery back and press and hold the Fn key and then press the power button to turn on the computer it will take you to dell diagnostics.
  • If you see colour bars on the screen press y for yes from the key board it will then do a small diagnostics and restart your computer.
  • If in this process u still see the lines on the screen that indicates the lcd screen failure and will need a replacement.

Dell Latitude C800

Does this happen with both the power plugged and running on battery?
Check the power modes, because the screen intensity is one of the power saving settings.

Dell latitude Cpi LCD screen Backlighting?

What do you mean exactly?

To increase or decrease the backlight brightness use Fn-key(next to left Ctrl-key) with up and down arrows.

There is not some key-combination to turn off the screen, you can make your computer turn it off after some time (if you're using XP this can be done in control panel->Power options), or just close the lid :)

DELL Latitude CPi A Series

Something to try would be to re-seat the ram and harddrive.

just take them out and then put them back in and try again. I would try with the battery out and just the ac power plugged in.

Being that it was bought off eBay, realistically it probably got banged around a little bit. Sometimes if one of the devices are not making a real good contact it can cause these problems. I have also seen bad batteries cause this problem.

This is not necessarily going to fix your problem, but it has occasionally worked for me in the past and it is a very quick and free thing to try.
