SOURCE: Red & Green ghosting on one side

More than likely yes you've had an IC go out. I would replace both. It never hurts, and if one has gone out the other will eventually follow. IC's are cheap and who wants to do it twice. :)

SOURCE: TV showing Red shadows when viewing the picture

Open the TV set and at the end of the CRT, there is a Circuit board (Video baord) where color adjustments are manually done there. OK, normally there are cracks or cold solders on the terminal of the components which can be the cause. You'll need a technician to do the re-soldering of the terminals. cheers.

Model 50UX58K - picture has distortion & shadow on right side of screen

Hi, if the shadow is colored lines then you probably need the convergence ICs and possible reisitors near them replaced .
If the shadows is just like a ghost of the image or a bar from top to bottom, then check if it does it on every input (dvd for example) , there are blanking bars that you can't see past the edges of the picture and when you have a bad cable signal you can see the ghost of the blanking bar sometimes. if it does it does not show the shadow when watching a DVD then its a signal issue with your cable/satelitte .
If your convergence is the issue, try the adjustments first and if that doesn't correct it, you can replace the ICs using kit # x480293 or stk392-110 (2 ICs) soldered in very technical for even a technician.
repairman cost about $250-$350
hope this helps

Color Alignment

the most common problem when the tv felt is the shadows all over the screen (maybe the tv didnt show it imm but looks like now is there the problem)
second:there is a circuit in the tv that works when the tv turns on every day. prevents the tv showing shadows on the screen.
the answer is this: if that system that prevents shadowing is working then the CRT is broken and say bye to the TV. But if the expert tech can make sure the D' gauss system is not working and can repair it then you get tv back.

To correct the problem, please do as follows:
  1. Access I2C Menu. (See page 57 of the Service Manual).

  1. If the unit is out of adjustment, you will see a gray ghost on either side of the black square. Move the joystick to the right or to the left until the ghost disappears. The number values will change up or down.
    • If the ghost adjustment is off with a lower value, there will be a ghost to the left of the square.
    • If the ghost adjustment is off with a higher value, there will be a ghost to the right of the square.
  2. Once you get the square to look good without ghosts, press "SELECT" to save any data values that have been changed.
  3. Press the "EXIT" button three times to return to normal picture.
  4. Adjustment is completed
  5. I HOPE THIS WAS HELPFUL, big IRISH.

Not showing entire image on screen

It's possible that your projector doesn't natively support your display resolution, but to know more it would be best if you could provide the following details:

Projector Model
PC Model
Windows Version
Windows Resolution/Refresh Rate
Display type (if laptop) cloned/extended, etc

Thanks!

Sounds like a light engine issue to me. Is there anyway you can post a picture of the issue itself?
