Question about Canon Powershot A1200 12. Megapixel Compact Camera Silver 2. Lcd 4x

2 Answers

Let me clarify it is a Canon A1200 Powershot. Dropped camera on floor, hit corner of camera. Everything works except when I went to use flash, it sent out the red light sensor but no flash. The broken arrow icon just blinks in the screen. Camera is about 4 years old.

Blinking red means just focusing. Blinking arrow means that flash is not ready. Try to factory reset it but if that doesn't help bring camers to repair.

Thanks for the advice on non working flash. You suggested to try a factory reset. How do I make that happen?

Thanks for the info. You mentioned factory reset. How does that work?

You should find the reset to factory default option within the camera's menu options.

Try this too: Remove memory card before resetting.
Turn off the camera, and leave the camera without inserting the battery & memory card overnight allowing it to reset.

Why won't my powershot a1200 flash work?

Have you enabled the flash function in the camera menu? Look for a menu item that says something like Internal Flash and follow that through

Was dropped. Now will do everything EXCEPT take photos. Lens, display, flash, etc. etc. all work fine. Just no screen image or photo when in "shoot" mode.

Sounds like the CCD or a stuck shutter blade. Try this place: www.CamerasAndParts.com They only service Canons and they are the only place we recommend for the Canons. It's all they work on and they are about half the price of most shops, plus the work is just excellent through them.

Dropped it on carpet while it was on and now it won't do anything, dead

..same deal here, except it was a concrete floor and I was drunk. It landed right on a corner. Later, taking it apart nothing seems broken or bent, yet not even the green LED indicating power will come on. Best of luck

Canon a 620 flash

Here are some simple things to try first for a camera that won't take a picture when the shutter button is pressed, or with an inoperative flash. They won't work for every case, but they're worth a try:

Flash doesnt work

There is a small battery (or large capacitor) inside your camera that stores a charge for when the flash fires. If you dropped your camera and hit the right spot, this battery may have been bumped out of position. A solution would be to open up your camera to see, but this is obviously risky and can void a warranty if you still have one. If you do choose to look inside, be sure to not tear any gentle wiring as this can ruin your camera for good (I know because it's happened to me).
