I have a toshiba 50a61 projection tv, it shows the menu and comes on but does not show a picture or sound.

I have taken the front and back covers off to find if there are bulbs but did not know what I was looking for.

I highly recommend you call a technician before you hurt yourself or cause more damage to the TV

SOURCE: Toshiba 43" Rear Projection tv (Just show's Blue Screen)

Hi Chris,
It sounds like you have a tuner problem. Usally the set will turn blue if there is no signal to the set, which is first generated from the tuner. It could also be the processor on the main board, but I would look at the tuner first.
Good luck and I hope this has helped

SOURCE: Problem with Toshiba DLP Projection TV Model #52HM84

It is possible the lamps may be defective or that they may be the wrong replacement for this model, as it may have a different wattage setup with the ballast. If you want to try to order the TB25 lamp from a different vendor, you can order the original Toshiba replacement lamp for this model (52HM84) from a major Toshiba parts distributor at the link below:

SOURCE: toshiba TP43H95 projection tv has power but no picture

If it shuts off and then the power light starts blinking red or it never comes on but the power light just blinks red continuously that is usually indicative of the convergence ICs (STK 392-110). You never want to replace the ICs without also replacing the resistors that are associated with them. There are usually 6 resistors, one for each of the colors and there corresponding direction, IE Red horizontal, red vertical, blue horizontal, ect. In the case of this model tv all of the resistors are 2.2 Ohm and 2watts. You will find them right where the STK 392-110 ICs are. Right in front of them. They are blue and have this color code on them. Red, red, gold, gold. These are represented by stripes on the resistors. You can get the parts from www.bdent.com They carry the ICs and the resistors. If you do not feel comfortable completing this repair I could do it for you if you send me the board. My email address is: [email protected] The cost is 375.00 and that includes parts.
Good Luck.

Colors are seperated on toshiba 50A61

Go into menu and with original remote call up convergence--either it has a problem(will not adjust) or you may with the remote be able to manually adjust the convergence back: sometimes if a power outage/surge it scrambles the convergence memory.

Toshiba 50A61 have sound but no picture - all fuses check okay

Not too many--if sound is developed from the set and not a surround system the set will blank the 3 picture tubes for a few reasons:

Voltages missing at the tubes (high voltage or screen voltages etc)

There is a loss of vertical sweep or horizontal sweep--set will do here this to prevent an INSTANT burn mark on all 3 tubes.

One thing you can try to look for is to see if the filament in each tube is lit---rather dim as 6.3 volt one---if lit the above reasons are your problem.

Without a meter, a schematic etc not much more you can check.

You should hear a faint whoosh sound when you power the set on--the high voltage coming up.

I have a toshiba 50a61 tv sound no picture

Hi ogmrwizzard,
This is an indication of faulty lamp.
First check the lamp connectors, pull-out, inspect the connectors and then re-insert and ensure its connection from the ballast board. If the symptoms still persist, you must replaced the lamp to back the picture again.
Hope I helped you.

Toshiba 50A61..power comes on but no picture or sound

There are fuses in this unit, one could be blown there are also capacitors and a regulator that could be at fault I would suggest U find a repair man in your area if possible to go thru this unit find the fault and repair. It would cost less than to repair than buying a new one.

Sounds like a problem with convergence, poss just requires new STK 392-110 ICs , may need a couple of resistors that go due to faulty ICs
