Could be the lift motor or some paper stuck behind the tray stopping it from lifting

1. Open the cassette.

2. Check bottom left side. There should be a white projection that you can push in and out. This will be your cassette detection sensor.

3. Make sure it is operating smoothly.

Normally happens on older 1135's but it's something to check along with the other answer on this.

mp tray folds down right below the toner cartridge cover its looking for a size paper you don't have loaded in cassette therefore its asking you to load that size in mp tray

Even though cassette is loaded it keeps saying "add paper in cassette" and will not print
theres a sensor where the casset meets the back of the machine if it dosnt get triggered it wont see any you can trick it and it will always see paper just keep it stocked of paper

Paper Feed Not Automatically Switching to Multi-Purpose Tray
Sounds like the paper out sensor for the cassette is either broken or jammed. Pull out the cassette tip the machine on its back and you should see a black arm hanging down. This should be able to swing back and fourth freely. Unless it is missing or broken.
