It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

Check the connections between the cable box and the TV. If you are using scart check the connector is in squarely if using rgb or composite you need a separate audio connection using the red and white phon sockets.

it sounds like your back light might be going out. You might be able to fix this by installing a new backlight inverter board.

Just a correction, it is not necessary that 4 times red light blinking always shows inverter board problem.
It depends on chassis/ model number of Sony bravia tv to what is error code of 4 blinks as it would be mentioned service manual.
