I have a disc and have downloaded embroidery designs to my computer - but cannot open pes files.
In order to 'see' the .pes files you have to have some software to read it like embird or embrillance. Embird is $164 but has some neat features such as being able to change colors and convert from one type embroidery files to another. You can just transfer them to the USB drive by: Plug in your drive, copying them, eject the usb drive, and then plug it into the machine. The machine will read it without you having a program that can read machine formats.
Noreen you need digitizing software to open a design. You can by the file number send a design to your machine from your computer with PE Design Lite, using a usb cable if it came with your machine- If not, try a standard USB printer cable and have transfer software for your embroidery machine installed and ready to use in win 8.

SOURCE: Unable to read original card
I called brother and I had set the hoop size to the wrong demension. I had it set for a 5X7 hoop and my machine uses a 4X4 hoop, It works fine now. Hope this helps you
SOURCE: I have a Brother Super Gallaxie2100 Embroidery machine
You are more then likely downloading too larger images for the hoop chosen,or the machine does not take a large image try with a 100x100 image and see if it works,if the images come out ok then the problem is what I suggested, the problem would not be with your card, as the old card and the new card works on all brother machines,

I would call Brother and ask them if there is a download conversion link. I know I am not able to use some of my programs on windows 7. Microsoft.com may have some answers for you also.

Google "BriTon Leap" for solutions for using your iMac. They have programs called Embrilliance, which works with iMac
