It sounds like it was taken apart by someone else???. Conair has a web-site which should give you diagram for putting it back together. Hopefully, all parts are there and undamaged.

SOURCE: conair beard trimmer: took screw out and can't

After removing the screw you must place your thumb on the battery cover (just below the screw where the 5 raised lines are) and slide the cover downward. The battery in this unit is soldered in. You may have to take it to a repair center to get the battery changed. The battery is a D-Sc type 1600mAh 1.2V. Good luck finding one. I thought the battery in my trimmer was bad after it sat idle for about 8 years. Turns out a little light sewing machine oil on the cutter head made it spring back to life.

Are there batteries in the Jheri Redding cordless hair trimmer model JRK0691?

Question edited for clarity
Question moved from Cars and Trucks Category.

This is a 50 year old trimmer brought out in 1971 ish. There will be a nickel cadmium battery in it which will be well past its best. You can replace it if you can find a way to get inside it. The brand is owned by Conair, so you can ask if they will change the battery for you? I am sure they will say it is obsolete. If you can get inside it, you can get all replacement batteries from www.batterybuyer.com

Also, it is entirely possible that the motor has failed, so before replacing the battery, you need to test it with some type of external battery source.

I have a Conair GMT189CGB 13 piece styling trimmer how do I change the nose/ear trimmer? I have no idea how it snaps in? what a terrible design!

You do not need to unscrew anything. Instead, simply take the beard trimmer (with the beard shaving blade still screwed on) in your hand, with the power button and "CONAIR" logo facing you. Then, put your thumb under the shaving blade and apply force to pop it off. So, the shaving blade, and the top part of the unit that it's screwed into will simply pop off. Then, you simply align the nose/ear hair attachment, and snap it in to the beard trimmer unit.

I purchased the conair trimmer model GMT175W I purchased it second hand and don't have the manual the small blade was attached and I can't figure out how to attach the larger cutting head. Can you help me?

Just twist and pull backward on the tip where the seam is. It does kind of feel like you're going to break it, but it won't--it is made to snap off like this.
