It sounds like you might have pinched a wire or something. Hopefully nothing serious has been damaged. Open it up if it is together and check ALL of the cables that go to the light engine and such and make SURE None of them have been pinched or shorted against the frame. Then after all is clear--try the power again.

I have white lines on my 65 in hd tv after changing dlp chip model # WD 65733

This is the reason I do not nor will our shop do this, considering cost of engine rebuild versus this not worth the trouble---only thing I can suggest is go over all you did to make sure no bad connection etc.

First thing to look at is the color wheel this model uses--usually it will make a high pitched fan like sound but can make a grinding sound also.

If it slows down from the 12,000 or so RPM speed it will cause color issues.

HAVE GRINDING OR HIGH PITCHED SOUND?

You need to replace the lamp in this set. The "pop" you heard was the lamp popping.
