Machine powers up but only beeps when the start button is pushed

Actually, what appears to have happened is that somehow the door locked while it was open. I've ordered the door latch mechanism and the repairman is coming as soon as the part arrives. Good thing too. The seal around the inside of the drum was torn in places and leaking water. We've ordered that too. Thanks for all your suggestions. By the way - there was no error code at all. Hopefully this will all help someone else.

only 2 things can cause this.
1 the control is set to lock out mode. just hold the lock button for 5 seconds and it should go back to normal mode.
or 2 the controls user interface has an internal failure. its the part that has the switches and tells the computer what to do. either way call whirlpool and see if its still covered by their warranty.
of yeah and the 3rd thing is you have no power to unit. make sure the outlet is good by trying something else in the same outlet, like a light or hairdryer.

If you unplug the M13 connection from the ccu (main control) and the error goes away then replace the MCU (motor control unit) if it does not go away then replace the CCU
