Pull out the paper cassette and clean the rubber feed rollers with alcohol.

  • MickeyMarley Dec 13, 2010

Don’t mind me as I will tell you how to fix this in a little more detail.

Open front of machine, remove ink cartridges. At the bottom (Inside bottom) there is a black plastic strip held in place by two screws, remove screws and this now gives you access to the rubber feeder, I should point out first of all that the rubber only goes round half of the feeder so if you cant get access from the bottom of the printer when you pull out the paper tray then continue with my method as the rubber was facing the inside for me (towards to the cartridges, so a slight stripping match required)

As pointed out above clean the rubber feeder with alcohol, I used alcohol hand wash (It is everywhere now days), I also blew out the dust that had gathered.

Replace plastic strip, stick in yer cartridges and start printing again. I very nearly bought a new printer today so hopefully this method helps you.

    Many thanks

My HP 2430 continues to jam on Tray 2 only. Tray 3 and Tray 1 (manual feed) are fine. I have replaced rollers and it continues to jam paper.

Common problem on this printer is for either the drive shaft for tray 2 to come lose or to break. Pull out the tray and try to rotate the roller. If it turns freely then the shaft is broken. The replacement procedure is too complex to describe here. If the roller does not turn freely then likely the pick solenoid has failed.

Dell 966 aio printer....paper jam and I cannot release paper from roller. Is there a way to release roller?

Have you read the Manual on paper removal? It mentions a rear panel that can be removed. That might free up the rollers:
If the paper jam is near the paper input tray:
1. Remove the paper tray.
2. Pull firmly on the paper to remove it.
3. Replace the paper tray.
4. Press the Select button .
5. Resend your print job to print any missing pages.
If the paper jam is not visible:
1. Turn off the printer.
2. Lift the printer unit.
3. Firmly grasp the paper, and gently pull it from the printer.
4. Close the printer unit.
5. Turn on the printer, and print the document again.
If the jam is located in the duplex unit or near the rear access door:
1. If you have a duplex unit, remove it.
2. Open the rear access door.
3. Firmly grasp the paper, and gently pull it from the printer.
4. Close the rear access door.
5. Re-install the duplex unit.
6. Press the Select button to continue printing.
If the paper jam occurs near the ADF:
1. Lift the ADF cover located to the left of the ADF input tray.
2. Firmly grasp the paper, and then gently pull it from the printer.
3. Close the ADF cover.
4. Press the Select button .
5. Resend your print job to print any missing pages.

3. Replace tray 2.
4. Press OK to continue printing.

If the Jam is in the Fuser area:
1. Open the rear door.

3. Close the rear door.

If the Jam is in the Output Bin:
1. Look for jammed paper in the output bin area.

I'm getting Jam at Reg Roll on my Phaser 6180, and I think there may be a bit of paper in the paper path, but i can't see it. The machine says Open Door A, which I've done a few times, but it isn't...

Had exactly the same problem... today actually.

Found the solution with another model's manual - I removed the paper from the top, but hadn't realised there was a jam in the paper tray. It was only when pulling it out completely that I found it as below...

Jam at Registration Roller

1. Remove Tray 2 completely.

2. Clear the jammed paper from the printer's

intake slot.

3. Re-insert Tray 2.

4. Open front door A.

5. Remove jammed paper if present.
6. Close front door A

Having message jam inside rear door and can not find any paper jam

Not all of the paper jam was actually cause by paper. There are also instances that the media is the one that is jammed, causing to display a "paper jam" message.

If you can't find any jammed paper from the unit, you can try inspect the following cause..
1. Trays are loaded improperly or overfilled.
2. Tray 2 or tray 3 is removed during print job.
3. The top cover is opened during print job.
4. The media that is being used does not meet HP specifications.
5. The media that is being used is outside of the supported size range.

Also, try to tun HP toolbox.. on the Paper Jam options, click the Typical Jam Locations... to see the internal paper path and potential jammed locations.

I hope this solve your problem...thanks..
