I've done unplug/replug, pressed all the input buttons that the owners manual says should turn the unit on and opened the chassis to check the fuses (all of which are fine). I've read about other models that have 2 button presses that reset the unit, trying to find for the AVR55

So the house breaker went off when it was on? If so the only thin you can do is open it up- four screws on the sides and one in the back if i remember. Look for the fuse near the electrical wire coming in the amp. If it's burrned replce it with same ifnot bing it in

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. If you already changes the cables and tv and still wont work it seems that the problem is the video circuit of the player. It seems it is not functioning. Did you experience any power surge or any electrical problem before it happens?
Thanks

HOW TO RESET HARMAN KARDON AVR70

Hi, Try this. Hope this helps and I have the link here to the manual.
Processor Reset
If the AVr behaves erratically after a power surge, first turn off the front-panel
main
power switch and unplug the Ac power cord for at least 3 minutes. plug the cord back
in and turn the AVr on. If this procedure doesn't help, reset the AVr's processor as
described below.
note: resetting the processor will erase all user configurations, including speaker and
level settings, and tuner presets. After a reset, reenter all of these settings from your
notes in the Appendix worksheets.

To reset the AVR's processor:

1. press the front-panel Standby/on switch to place the unit in the Standby mode (the
Standby Indicator led will turn amber).
2. press and hold the front-panel Standby and memory/folder buttons until the reSet
message appears on the front-panel message display.
3. press the memory/folder button again to reset the AVr's processor.
If the AVr does not function correctly after a processor reset, contact an authorized
harman
kardon service center for assistance.
to locate an authorized service center,
visit our web site at www.harmankardon.com.

Hello! My harmon kardon hs100 constantly blinks an amber light and is inoperatable. I tried plugging it out in fact for months I did so and still not working power light still blinking amber.

This is due to a audio output problem in the amp, first check the speaker wires for shorts, if okay! the audio output semiconductors must be replaced to remedy the situation.

My Harmon Kardon AVR 2600 goes to protect mode when powered up. After many tries it will fire up but at times it's up to twenty times. I did load the software upgrade 6 months and it has been fine

Check all speaker wiring for shorts, if okay! there is a problem in the audio output stage of the unit or the protection circuit is not working properly. I would suggest a pro to evaluate.

I just hooked up my harmon Kardon 2.1 amp after moving and when I fired it up instead of warming up and the indicator light turning green. It turned orange and pulsed red. I could here the amp relay...

Check the speakers, make sure no starnds of wire are touching ony of the other terminals. Disconnect one speaker at a time and turn on the unit to see when and if the unit stops going in to protect mode. When it and if it doest start to stay on then you have removed the bad spkr. Unhook all of then and hook up the bad one only to verify that is whats causing ur problem...
