My frost Free Hotpoint FFA91 keeps freezing in the freezer. I take the back off (from in side the freezer) and the bottom of the element is frozen solid. If I defrost it then it will be the same again in about 10 days.Is it due to being set wrong and it needs to defrost for longer on the internal setting or something else. If it is this how do I change the setting?

Sounds like you have either a bad defrost heater or a bad defrost control timer, however I can not provide part numbers, as I can not find any model numbers which begin with FFA91

Mine did the same. You need to replace the baffle and motor assembly located at the very top of the fridge (behind the vent). I believe the part no. is 2603356 at a cost of £58.72 + postage. It is quite simple to do ... I am not an expert, but watched the repair man replace it just in case it happens to my other FFA91 fridge/freezer.

your GE self defrost is not working. 1. clean the ice and look for the heater element and your lemi switch. If you have a GE profile, they have a motherboard at the back of the ref. if all i the part i mentioned are working, just replaced the motherboard. at searspartdirect.com

Remove the back panel remove as much ice as possible and pour boiling water in the bottom section under the evaporator. be careful not to touch the aluminum it will cut you or break. you will see the drain hole sometimes it takes a while to thaw all the ice. Hope this helps and please rate me Thank You.

Try to defrost the freezer and see if the air valve opens and closes properly if all of that works then there is a problem with the fan that moves the cold air into the refirgerator

Hotpoint FAZ50 Frost Free Freezer

If this is a frost free unit as I received it posted you may have a problem in that it is not frost free. The cooling coil may be frozen over stopping air circulation. There would be a defrost timer located somewhere in back. Located the clutch head screw and turn it clockwise SLOWLY until you hear one audible click. That should put the system into the defrost mode. Wait about 30 minutes in which time the system should return to the cooling mode (usually 18-22 minutes). If it does not restart the compressor after that time turn the clutch head screw clockwise again and it should restart. If you had to turn the screw the second time it would indicate a bad defrost timer. In this case replace the timer.
