There is an optical sensor inside the drive that kooks for the disc before firing up the laser (opto interupt sensor) ....almost impossible to locate unless you know what to look for. Get it to a service centre

No, it a non proprietary device for a Universal Remote. It looks like you can buy the remote for it though in the Philippines. We are in North America so the search results should be better for you.
Check it by inserting an other known good disc. If the system do not recognize this disc too, check whether the disc is loading properly in the mechanism. If there is no problem to loading, the laser pick-up unit is faulty. In most cases, replacing the laser pick-up unit to ROMs found not effective, as original number unit will not be available at open electronic spare part market. this is more than likely an issue witht the disc that the file is located on. I would contact the manufacturer and see if there is any way to get a replacement disc.
you must have a disc of some sort as well as a valid key, otherwise get ready for more running around to buy a new disc..short and sweet buy a disc which has a code from your local retailer, the t40 should have no problem running xp
