DVD/VCR Combo was working fine then one day machine started
shutting down after a few seconds of operation. It happens with both, a
VCR and a DVD. I can watch 6 secs. of a movie at a time.
I bought
the VR3845 on a whim, at a local Costco because of the DVD/VHS combo
feature and the price. After 7 months the VR3845 suddenly wouldn't read
DVD's anymore, even ones I'd recorded the night before. The GoVideo Web
site was of no help and I'm now facing wasting hours of my time to get
a replacement or my money back, assuming I can.
Other
"features", you can only switch recording channels at the minute. That
means you record, say 8pm to 9pm on channel 5, but you can't program
the unit to record from 9pm to 10pm on a different channel. The
programming interface will only let you start the next recording on a
new channel at 9:01PM, so you lose the first minute of your program.
At
the end of a programmed recording session the VR3845 automatically
shuts off. If you're watching another channel while recording, suddenly
all you see is static until you power up the VR3845 again.
Sorry Man but this thing just isn't worth it I would take it back.
Hi There, I've got the same problems with my DV 285. My power started going off approximately 5 to 10 minutes into the DVD. The only button that seems to work is the OPEN/CLOSE button. Once the tray closes, the unit shuts off. I can't even use the on/standby button to turn it on.
the timing will be out of line, thats whats putting in shut-down mode. dis-engage the tape carriage from the running cogs and manually put it in eject mode, re-align the main cogs to their pointers. there should be one on the cogs and on the chassis to help you re-align then re-engage the carriage to its cog.
you may open your dvd casing and check with the capacitor next to the fuse this is busted you may notice that it deformed, remove and replace with the same specifications
laser problem just trash it. I got one that have the problem 2 months after purchase and was sent back to manufacturer after another 3 months I'm getting disc error. I guess they have a problem on the laser reading assy
