We have a graco car seat here which is stuck in the iso fix base. pulling the handle on the back only releases the rear hooks, but not on the front. it's the model from 2012 graco snug ride

To fold-down rear seat on 2007 Chevy Malibu, follow these steps:
1. Open the trunk
2. Pull on one or both the handles located on the upper side of the trunk
3. The handle located on the driver's side will unlatch the bigger part of the read seat
4. The handle on the passenger side will fold down the smaller portion of the rear seat.
5. Once done, you will have a seat that's nicely folded down.

there might be a release button in the front of the car seat right around were your childs legs are, it maybe red in coulor, push that button it may release the front

Step 1
Plan to secure the infant seat facing the rear inthe middle of the back seat. If a center position is not available, positionthe seat directly behind the driver's side seat. For safety reasons, therestraint should not be placed in a position where there is an air bag. Ensurethat the proper vehicle lap belt system is in place; manually adjusted lapbelts, automatic locking retractor lap belts and lap/shoulder belts withlocking latch plates are all considered safe for use with the Graco InfantCarrier/Restraint.Step 2
Remove the carrier from the Graco car seat baseby squeezing the lever at the rear of the restraint and lifting the seat up.Place the base in the vehicle facing the rear. Thread the vehicle shoulder andlap belts through openings at the end of the base without twisting the belts.Secure the belts by placing plastic tongue over the belts. Tighten the vehiclebelts by pushing down on the base and pulling out any slack.Step 3Install locking clip to secure shoulder and lapbelt together just above the seat belt buckle. Connect the two belts with thelocking clip. Buckle the lap belt system and tighten by pulling out any slack.Ensure that car seat base is secure by pulling and pushing on it; the baseshould not move sideways, forward or backward.Step 4
Place the Graco carrier in the base. Push down onthe restraint until it clicks and locks into the base. Set the infant in therestraint for travel and place harness straps over the baby's shoulders. Get back to where you bought it for a replacement - these things HAVE to work perfectly to keep your child safe - don't try to "fix" it you could live to regret it.

The problem:
The set belt stop has been lost so the seat belt retracts too far when the seat is laid flat. When laid flat the release mechanism locks as it should when not level so the seat cannot be raised up as the belt is too tight and locked.
The Solution:
1) Push the two little clips to release and remove the headrests.
Pull the grey lever on the right of the seat base, lift seat base up and forward toward the front seat..
2) See two red capped leversat the back of the two seat hinges and lever them to the upward position, this releases the seat.
Rock the very heavy seat unit upwards and lift complete unit upwards.
3) Take it out of the car and turn 180% so that the back of the seat and base are in the upward position and the seat belt will pull out as it should
4) Replace the missing belt locking stop (I used a tie pin permanently fixed using super glue).
5) Fold seat back down and test then either re-fit seat unit or leave out to decrease fuel consumption..

clean all debris and lubricate with silicone lubricant, push seat in direction of full contact with back of hook, try to operate lever

Got it, with the help and eyes of my wife. The rear latch releases as the seat back is lowered. This release is ALMOST seat back down (about 3 inches above the seat bottom). As the seat back lowers, apply constant lift on the rear latch, and it will release as the seat back lowers. Hard-won knowledge - I think I invented some bad words in the process.

i think the snug rides are rear facing only. if it pulls out of a base and has a carrying handle. its rear facing only.
