Add a rule in Scan123 for my LS4278 to make it detect ALT codes and do a list of actions after that, but not do anything when scanning regular bar codes with special ALT codes in them ?

usually you need to configure the reader to tell it what kind of barcodes you want it to read and how to interpret & output the codes to your computer (whether you need prefix or suffixes to your codes( for automation))
the user manual for the reader has some bar codes to configure the settings for the scanner.
Hello Severiano,
this can be done automatically, just by scanning three programming barcodes. Please follow the steps in the attached document.

LS2208 needs a ADF Rule added to it to send the "Enter" on the end of all code. Scan123 is also an easy solution. Download it if you don't have it. Basically in Scan123 select the type of scanner you are working with, then select the ADF Rules tab. Make a new rule that says ANY Code, Any Length, and then under actions I put Line 1 "Send all that remains" Line 2 "Send Numeric Key <Enter>. Save the rule. Then select the Symbologies Tab, Select UPC/EAN Tab and select what options you want. Then select the Print Icon, Tick Symbologies , ADF Rules & Programming BarCodes boxes. Print them out and then scan them into your scanner. Job done
There was probably some kind of ADF Rule applyed, please scan the barcode Set All Defaults and Erase All Rules from ADF Chapter in the manual for LS4278 aailable here http://support.symbol.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=6983404apdf&sliceId=&dialogID=190394003&stateId=1%200%20190388491
All you have to do is create a rule to transmit only the 12 digits you want. You can create a rule with the Programming manual or the 123scan software. Both of these are available online at support.symbol.com. Here is a short cut: http://tiny.cc/d400s

You may need to enter two "rules", each adding an "enter" to the data. This is programmed by scanning special barcodes in the manual, which you can download here:

I'm not looking at the Outlook menus right now, just Outlook express but there should be the same features. Look for a "Tools" option on the menu bar near the top.. Under "Tools" look for "Mesage Rules". Click on that, then select "Mail".
In Outlook Express there are Conditions and Actions you can select. Select "Where the From line contains people". Near the bottom there is a "Rule Description". Click on "Contains people" then either enter the boss's email or select his email by using the address book option.
For the Action section, select "Highlight it with color". In the Rule Description area, click on "Color" which will allow you to change the color to whatever you choose.
Again, the exact options and menus may be off as I'm looking at the options within Outlook Express. Outlook is a more robust product so anything Outlook Express has, you should also have.
Your Action Replay DS hardware may require resetting if you are experiencing any of the following problems:
* Code Manager PC software is reporting that Action Replay DS does not contain enough free space when it actually contains no codes.
* Code Manager PC software is reporting the console`s battery is low when it’s actually fully charged.
* Multicolored bars are shown on the screen after you confirm the entry of a game ID when trying to manually enter codes.
* You can use the Code Manager PC software without any problems until the Action Replay DS is connected via USB set to the update mode on the console, at which point Windows shows a run time error.
If you are experiencing any of these problems, please follow the steps below to reset the Action Replay DS hardware. Please beware that resetting the Action Replay DS hardware will not restore a default codelist, and any codes which are stored on the Action Replay DS will be erased.
1. With your console powered off insert the Action Replay DS
2. Hold down buttons A+B
3. Turn your console on
4. With A+B still held down, as soon as you see the Action Replay DS license screen press and hold down buttons START+SELECT so that you now have 4 buttons held down
5. Hold all 4 buttons down for around 10 seconds until the Action Replay DS loads to it`s home screen
6. If Action Replay DS doesn’t hold on the license screen for around 10 seconds when you do this, you may need to turn off and try again
It depends on whether you are using a keyboard wedge or a serial connection. Use 123Scan or MCL to make a change to the ADF file that tells the scanner what to do. Then you will have to upload the file to the scanner.
Appending an "Enter" to a scanned bar code (Keyboard Wedge connection)
Scanned bar code data 04843100Criteria 1 Code type = Any Criteria 2 Code Length = Any Length Action 1 Send all that remains Action 2 Send Value Keycode = 7013 <Enter> (String field must be empty)
Output after ADF rule 04843100<Enter>
Note: To have an ADF rule applied to all scanned bar codes, leave the criteria unspecified (Code Type = Any and Code Length = Any Length).
Appending a "Carriage Return Line Feed" to a scanned bar code (serial connection)
Scanned bar code data 04843100
Criteria 1 Code type = Any Criteria 2 Code Length = Any Length Action 1 Send all that remains
Action 2 Send Value String = \0D\0A
Note: Keycode value is ignored when string field is populated.
Output after ADF rule 04843100<Carriage Return Line Feed>
