Will not power on and stay on

when my 42'' did that, I had to change the main power board.

The first couple of seconds of operation, most TVs are doing some self-test and if something has failed making full power on dangerous (for fire) they will shut down. Either a major component in the horizontal section has failed or the main power supply itself is defective.

Ur high voltage FBT,is dead the block of plastic with a red wire with a cap hook to the CRT(tv tube).Might also have to replace the whole power board?Because just couple parts it hard to determins,what else also ready to burn next!

Trying installing a new power supply. This is the main problem with tv's with the issue. But if you just bought it I would try to get my money back from where I bought it from. Installing a power supply for a tv is not that hard at all.

TV turns off unexpectedly
• Sleep timer may have been activated.
• Electronic protection circuit may have been activated because of a power surge. Wait 30 seconds and then turn on again. If this
happens frequently, the voltage in your house may be abnormally high or low.
• Unplug the TV. Wait ten minutes. Then, plug the TV in again.

Ive had a similar model since 2002 and it had the same problem. Factory power supply to weak for the model. Mine was replaced twice before the upgrade came out. Sorry, I dont think it is a $.50 solution.
