There is likely an access spot on the back of the dryer that allows you to change the bulb without taking the entire dryer apart. the most you may need to do is remove the back panel of the dryer to access the light socket. it should either pop out with a clip or twist out 1/4 turn like the headlamps of most cars then you can replace it with a high temp appliance bulb as they last longer than standard bulbs

Hi Stanley,
the problem with the dryer flame going out is caused by defective coils on the gas valve and the gas valve coils should be replaced

We have a Kenmore gas dryer model #76832500. The ignitor glows and the gas will light for a short period of time and then go out. Once the dryer cools down it will light again. Our manual shows there...

The 3 pin coil is your booster and holding coil and it ignites the 2 pin secondary coil. Is the flame blue or yellow? I would change both. Coils are a lot cheaper than the whole gas valve assembly.
Make sure to check the dryer's airflow. If the dryer is ducted, pull the machine away from the duct and try starting it again. Does the dryer have some sort of electronic control which is sensing an error and terminating the heating circuit? If there is it would be a box type thing located near the gas valve and it would have lights flashing on it. If that's the case, it's a new problem in itself as you would need an error code listing to begin looking.
Assuming air flow is good and gas supply pressure hasn't dropped (also check that gas inlet hose is kink free) and it is the coils that are failing, change both and fix your problem

How do I replace the gas valve coils on my maytag atlantis gas dryer?

usually the gas valve is not the issue on these dryers after ten years of doing service calls i have only ever changed one. have you replaced the element that lights the gas? they have to see a certain resistance before they will open the gas valve. these will usually develop a hairline crack they will still glow red but not open the valve. when you replace it make sure you do not touch the element as this will shorten its life.

Burner wont light

If you have replaced the igniter and the thermacouple. Your next item is the gas valve. This is not that hard to change out, but is probably the most expensive part on the dryer.
