NEW freezer making a singing/high pitched noise

Just bought a frigidaire freezer. For the first two days after shutting the door it would make a high pitched noise very similar to what you will hear on the below video at you tube. Would last about 20 seconds then stop. Now the noise has stopped completely - the freezer seems to be working fine but should I get a replacement while I can ( at no cost ) or not , just to be safe ? What would cause it to make this noise ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F754-zzvYhs

SOURCE: Freezer/Refrigerator tempurature swinging wildly

The compressor is overheating and not starting. Could be just the start relay. If this happens again try unplugging it for about an hour then it should work for a while. Heat between doors is normal this is an electric heater designed to keep the doors from sweating. You just noticed it because the refrigerator wasn't cold.

SOURCE: Temp Alarm going off, when freezer seems to be cooling fine.

You need to check the temp in the freezer to make sure it's down to around 10 degrees. The alarm will go off much above that.

SOURCE: Frigidaire upright--

2 months old should still be under warenty.

Check the freezer fan by opening the freezer door and pressing the door switch and listing for the freezer fan sound. If no sound then the fan motor could be bad.

Look at the back wall too see if you have frost build up. If you do then you have a defrost problem.

If thees are not your problem you could have a seal system problem. (( freon leak ))

My 2 day old Freezer makes a gurgling noise when closing. I am worried that it is faulty

you're probably just hearing the door pulling tighter shut because it's so cold inside and you have a perfect seal

I have an 11 cf upright freezer. it has been running most of the time or at least make a noise. and I just defrosted it. and its still doing the same thing. any comments?

Good Afternoon friend, thank you for your post!

I see that your Frigidaire freezer is making noise and you have recently defrosted it, but your freezer is still making the noise. Your freezer will make certain noises which are normal operating noises for the freezer.

The compressor is a high efficiency so you may hear it during start up and while running. Additionally, refrigerant circulating through your freezer can make a tapping sound or even a gurgling noise. I hope this has been helpful. -Matt

When i shut the door it makes a high pitch whistle

One of two things are probably happening. If you have a distorted, torn, or missing part of a gasket it may whistle when the air in the compartment suddenly shrinks inside the cabinet when the door is closed. Second possibility is that you have an equalizer tube that allows the air pressure to equalize when the door closed. It occurs to me that maybe the fan inside the freezer may have bearings that are in the process of failing and only complain when the fan motor begins to start up after the door has been closed. hope this helps. Good luck!

"High wind" sound following defrost.

Freon running through the feon lines can make some odd noises, usually a gurgling or higher pitched noise. If your freezer works fine with no more strange noises, then don't worry about it. If you have temperature problems or continue to have abnormal noises, then see if your freezer has the 5 year sealed system warrantee that most freezers have. If it does, and it is under 5 years, then call Frigidaire to come out to check it out for free. If it is out of warrantee you will need to live with it or replace the freezer, since a freon sealed system repair is very high. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

My freezer will make a very high pitched noise every once in a while. I have not been able to pinpoint a pattern at all.

Hi,
Can you provide us more details about the brand of your freezer ,so that we can provide you correct diagnosis to your problem.

General troubleshooting will be due to fan blade which will be making high pitched noise .

Waiting for your reply .

Thanks for using Fixya.
