Kawasaki 250f will not start when gets hot. Push start runs great. Starts great when cold. Already adjusted valves did not help. Any idea?

Is the fuel running into the engine with it not running? If it is then you will have to remove the carb and clean out the float bowl. Check your float height and clean out the body. If the engine is running fine, you won't have to adjust any screws. If you want to decrease the amount of fuel running through the body then you would have to lower the main jet needle. Thats the one in the slide. Moving the C clip up will decrease the fuel and moving it down will increase the fuel. The large screw on the outside of the carb only moves the slide up and down for idle setting. The small screw at the back is for air movement through the carb for the high idle. The only other adjustments that can be made is changing out the jets for larger or smaller ones. Hope this helps.

Just call your local Kawasaki dealer, or any Kawasaki dealer, and give them the VIN number and they can look it up and tell you EXACTLY what the bike is. If you call a local dealer they may know the current owner and the bike's history.

Chances are when the OHC was installed it was one tooth off on the timing. You have spark and gas and the bike is a single cylinder so that is what I would check. Slack in the chain tensioner is what usually creates the problem. All slack should be at the back side of the cylinder.

Low compression can cause this. Insufficient valve tappet clearance is the most common cause of low compression on this engine. So, check the compression and, if it is lower that about 130 psi, have the valves adjusted.
Also make sure the kick starter actuated compression release isn't sticking after the kick starter is operated.
Another thing that can cause it to be difficult to start is a plugged up carburetor. If the bike has ever sat for more than about a year, then the carburetor needs to be disassembled and cleaned out.
