The Apple ID is attached to an email address (icloud.com or other, like Gmail) and must be verified through that account. Can you check if you spelled the email address correctly when you opened the account?

Perhaps the email from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme landed in your Junk or Spam email folder. I always check that folder, at least daily, to see if email I am expecting and email which is not junk landed there.

Plus after checking my Junk / Spam email folder and marking it as Not Junk / Spam (thereby moving the valid email to my Inbox), I delete the remaining Junk / Spam email.

o cancel a Gmail account and delete the associated Gmail address:

• Go to Google Account Settings.
• Open the Products page.
• Click Edit under Your products.
• Click Remove Gmail permanently under Delete a Product.

You cant delete an email account unless you have access to it.Only way to delete an account is to log in to the account and there you will find a delete option.

Are you using Yahoo as an account? If so then you are best to try hooking up whilst near a router or hotspot, if 3G is not available.

Retry you username and password, as the password failure message normally comes up when the connection has timed out due to low connectivity.

You can only sign up for one account per email address. Facebook sends a notification to every email address associated with an account when someone has been able to register one of the addresses on the account.
