Some VCR's have the ability to switch off the RF output. You should look under the tuning menu of the VCR.

SOURCE: Setup VCR to TV, using RF plugs & coaxial cable

The solution was both simple and elementary - why didn't I remember it sooner?
The TV needed to be 'tuned' to the video just as it needed to be tuned for each TV channel.
I selected channel 12 on the TV, went into the tuning mode on the TV and with the video playing, cycled through the TV tuning process until, Voila, there was the video showing on the TV.

If the units are older then they will not have a HDMI socket. You will still need the RF cables as well.

How to hook up a old vcr player to the tv

Hooking up an old VCR is a doddle if you also have an old analogue tv.

The VCR provides an analogue output via a scart socket, often via phono sockets (2 or 3) or by rf modulation, providing an output into the aerial socket of the tv that could be tuned-in like a regular analogue tv station.

If the tv has a scart socket it should be plug and play, even with a digital tv, otherwise you will need an analogue to digital converter, probably the most economic types are the popular VHS grabber types designed to convert the VHS output into a format a computer can burn onto a dvd but many others are available in many different price bands.

Telefunken analogue color TV model MP-A2055VT-H to connect up digital decoder set-top box. The TV only has an RF input. no other plugs. Searched all 80 channels and I cannot find an AV channel on the...

Hi,

The simplest solution would probably be the use of an RF Modulator. Feed the RF Mod with the A/V signals from the Conia CSTB12, set it to transmit on Ch 3 or 4, tune the Telefunken to either channel.

In most Telefunken TVs we have worked on, the A/V INput/OUTput would be on the SCART connectors as shown below.
9775210.jpg
To my understanding, a Conia CSTB12 as sold in Australia has a composite RCA (yellow) Video OUTput and L/R White/Red audio OUTputs. What would be needed would be a A/V signal to SCART adapter/converter.
7906648.jpg
If your Conia CSTB12 has an S-Video, then this may be used.
If your Conia CSTB12 has an HDMI, then something like this may be used.
Incidentally, should you be interested, there are comparable receivers to a Conia CSTB12 that has SCART OUTputs.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

RF Modulators and cable connections

948bde9.jpg

RF MODULATOR HOOKUP
For a TV with only a RF input jack, a RF Modulator can be used to hookup DVD players, DVD recorders and other devices which output RCA composite video and audio. For example, analog cable TV can be connected using a RG-6 type coaxial cable to a VCR or older DVD recorder's analog cable ready tuner RF input. Then as shown above, the output can be connected to the TV thru the RF modulator. The modulator outputs on channel 3 or 4 for the older TV so the TV is set to channel 3 or 4. Some RF modulators are built-in to Audio/Video switch boxes. These allow multiple RCA inputs along with RF input.

RF MODULATOR CLOSE-UP
The modulator converts signals to channel 3 or 4 so older TVs can tune them on their analog tuners channel 3 or 4.

My wii u stil wont work after being hooked to an rf modulator to an older tv

Hi Lisa can you provide some more information
What is the model number and make of the rf modulator?
what wii output did you use to go into the rf modulator ?
what frequency does the rf modulator output at ?
What model number and make is the television ?
What type of cable is being used from the rf modulator to the tv ?
Is it a video cable or a proper 75 ohm impedance coaxial cable
what is the impedance of the rf modulator output is it 75 omhs and what is the impedance of the tv is it 75 ohms or is it 300 ohms if it is 300 ohms on the television ( usually antenna is a ribbon cable screwed onto the back of the tv rather than a coaxial socket ) different you need a balun
http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=LT3022
I am recommending your first point of problem trouble shooting first is to check the impedance of your television compared to the impedance of the rf modulator and compared to the impedance of the cable used. IF they do not match then power is lost and the signal won't get to the TV.

Cannot get techwood tuned in to sky through rf do not have a manual

Sorry to say modern TVs do not have an analogue tuning system, which you need for a SKY box RF output. Your local TV dealer may have an RF receiver that you can connect to a SCART or RCA socket on your TV

Can't find where to connect for dvd. no white, yellow,or red plug.

Hello, Thank you for the opportunity to help

Sounds like you got a pretty old tv there, its frustrating not to see the RED/WHT/YELLOW plugs on it. This is because this tv was made when that was not out yet. So are you out of luck? No, you ar in luck but it will cost you a little money.

You can purchase one of these RF modulators at Radio shack for like $29.95.

OR

If you have a VCR, Generally they have these plugs out the back of them you would plug the DVD into the VCR in the Video IN. You're TV will need to be on channel 3 or 4 (dending on your vcr) You vcr will need to be powered ON then tuned to VIDEO INPUT. You can do this by using the remote's up/Down channels buttons or pressing input on the remote depending on the VCR.

The VCR will need to be connected to the TV's coaxe port on the back, That port looks like this:

rulds2008_39.jpg
If you do not have a VCR you would purchase a RF modulator you TV will need to be on channel 3! The modulator is connect to the port pictured above above. The DVD is then introduced to the ports on the back of the modulator witch looks like this:

Can you tell me how to tune in a channel when ppreparing to use a freeview box on a onyx sw 1536 ld

Unless you've got an "expensive" Freeview box that modulates its output on to the RF (Aerial) connector then you can't. Most Freeview boxes have 2 aerial connectors - 1 IN from the Aerial itself and 1 OUT to connect to the TV - BUT this is ONLY a PASS-THROUGH connection. This means that the digital Freeview signal which is decoded from the aerial signals is NOT output on the OUT connector and sent down the co-axial cable to your TV. Only the "old" ANALOGUE (not Freeview NON DIGITAL) comes down that co-ax. What you should do is connect the Freeview box to your TV with a SCART cable via the SCART connectors on both. You need to select the AV input on the TV using the remote.
Even if you do have an "expensive" box that does modulate the digital decoded programmes and output these of the RF OUT connector, you should still use a SCART cable as the picture produced will be far better
Hope this helps

Dvd player not connected properly to TV?

You might need one or both of:

RF modulator.
AV switch (perhaps from an old video game console)

The modulator accepts the RCA plugs from your DVD player (yellow, white, red) and outputs an RF signal.

You can then plug the ouput of the modulator into the aerial input of the skybox, via the switch, if desired.

Unable to Tune TV to Sky + RF output

Hi.

The problem is that the modulator output frequency of your sky box is exactly the same as for example chanel 5 on your terestrial aerial.
You need to change this number to a different one thats clear of local terestrial transmissions

1) Select the Services button on your Sky or Sky+ remote control.

2) Type in 401 [select] on your key pad and you will get to the installer menu. You cant gain access to this via the drop down menu as it is designed for the Sky Engineer to use.

3)
Select Option 4 to configure the RF outlets on your Sky Digibox.

4) The option RF Chanel Number change this number from example 35 to 60 .
You may need to do this using other numbers 26 34 55 etc
Every time you alter the number store it then try & tune TV to sky.
Any other sets in the house connected by RF leads will require retuning for sky.
Save new settings and you should find that your RF outlet to TV works fine.

TV, freeview, DVD and video set up.

Hi.
Modern day freeview boxes rarely have A modulator in them so you can not tune it to a channel on your tv it must be connected using scart lead.
Most freeview boxes have 2 scart sockets one for VCR & one for TV plug your scart leads in to the scart sockets of freeview they will be labled TV & VCR.
The scart labled TV goes to scart socket on the TV labled AV1 or 1
The scart labled VCR goes to scart socket on VCR labled AV or IN
Now the aerial leads From wall socket to ANT in on freeview.
Then from RF out on freeview to ANT in on VCR.
Then RF out on VCR to ANT in on TV doing this will enable you to put TV on 9 to watch tapes.

The final scart will be from DVD to TV socket marked AV2

You will need to put TV on AV channel to view freeview.
To record freeview you must put VCR to EITHER line.av,aux. it will be one of those different manufacturers call them by varying names.
I have done this banking on your tv having 2 scart sockets if it only has 1 let me know & I will tell you how to wire it differently.
Please state make & model of TV set & VCR & what connections are available EG scart, Phono, Svhs etc.
