This sounds like a regulator problem, now there are the switch or a built in behind the cooker. WARNING DO NOT OPEN ANY PART OF THE OVEN ISOLATE THE MAINS FIRST.
You will need a tester, multi-meter would do. check the switch for continuity check the heating element there may be a hole in it, its very difficult to see slight Gray Colour just at the hole, find and inspect the fan motor if there is no continuity after disconnection of wiring between the winding terminals, on most models you have to remove the fan before you can inspect the heating element, but there are a few the other way round. Hope this is helpful .
This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.
hi there the most likely cause for this is the element going into a fault condition as it warms up and expands your best bet is to replace the element which isnt that hard to do yourself, you might also want to check that the fan is spinning freely as it may stick and overload
Hello,
Have you checked that the timer clock is set and not flashing, because the rest of the cooker will work after power outage but for the main/fan oven to work the clock needs resetting.
